I've been out all day so this is the first I've been updated on the trip. Sounds like a blast.

Anyone see Greg Kelly on Fox & Friends this morning? The F&F crew cut to Kelly for a report on the President and Prime Minister's upcoming trip to Graceland. Kelly was dressed in a real cheesy Elvis get up and did a very funny impersonation of Elvis. It was quite a hoot. Seems that many are having fun with this today.

What an ADORABLE picture of our President and First Lady! Happy Birthday Mr. President. I can't believe he'll be 60 in a few days. Laura is a lucky lady to share a life with someone who is obviously so much fun!

Frank: Nice Beaver.
Jane: Thank you... I just had it stuffed.
Frank: Here...let me help you with that.

Ok, call me corny, but I think this is CUTE.

It is cute. It just goes to show that no matter who we are, or how big we get, we all have secret desires. Thankfully, Koizumi's is harmless.

40-year-old-face, 60-year-old-hands. You can't fake hands.

Whoa! Apparently not. Where's my sunscreen...?

Yes. This reminds of when the Japanese Emperor visited Disneyland back in 1975 (wearing a Mickey Mouse watch):

Oh well .... We are both going to be fighting together against the North Koreans or the Chinese or both on the field of battle (probably sooner than most readers out there think) so we might as well get close and comfortable with each other, US and Japan.

After October though, it will be back to another 'faceless' Prime Minister, for Japan, the World's Second Largest Economy which sadly cannot seem to get any substantial news reporting nor deep grasp by most Americans other than just the image stuff -- despite all the communist/terrorist threats that it's 125 million people, and our tens of thousands of US troops stationed there for that matter, are under.

"I wear an outfit just like that one when I hit the Karaoke clubs down in the Ginza district!"

Nah, not Ginza. Maybe Rippongi or Akihabara! ;o)

I am a real retard when it comes to what the celebrities are doing, but when I read your post I understood my reaction to seeing Lisa Marie's photo, to wit:

Now this is really going to sound weird, since Lisa is on the left and Mom is on the right, but when I first glanced at this photo, it looked to me like M. Jackson in drag.

Graceland is tacky but in a magnificent way. It's an interesting slice of Americana. The music Elvis made during his life lives on and will stand the test of time.

Ok, call me corny, but I think this is CUTE.

Events like this are very much the way business is conducted in Japan. The socialization phase is every bit as important as the business phase. In Japan, the business meetings are invariably followed by dinner and a night of drinking and carousing. Obviously, Bush can't and won't do this, but being the good host and catering to his guest's whims can only help relations with this very important ally.

This trip was not in any way the waste of time that some here have suggested.
