Wow! This is a MUST read Freepers! This is an excellent expose! It is astounding that this anti-big labor reporting was published by the very left-wing The Village Voice. It seems like nothing has changed in the past 40-50 years since Elia Kazan's film "On the Waterfront" premiered and the vendetta launched by RFK in the early 1960s against big labor and the mafia. It makes you wonder how many other tentacles organized crime has in big labor; teachers unions? government employee unions? Who knows how deep the corruption goes? I hope the reporter and the honest longshoremen have CCW permits, armed bodyguards, or consider the witness protection program.

"You think you're god almighty, but you're nothin' but a dirty, rotten, stinkin' mug!"
"I coulda been a contender! I coulda been somebody!"
Two of my favorite quotes from one of the greatest movies ever made. Kazan is one of my heroes (for naming names).

I, too, worry for the safety of the honest guys that are involved in this.
I admit, though, that I only read about 2/3 of this. Dang! It's long! But well written.

(Never trust Democrats with national security.)
So total was the control of Genovese mobster Joseph Lore over Local 1588 of the International Longshoremen's Association that he repeatedly had the local's modest two-story offices on John F. Kennedy Boulevard remodeled so he could collect a share of the contracts.
Like clockwork in my Brooklyn, NY Neighborhood, every public school is completely encased with expensive Scaffolding every three or four years while 'remodeling' takes place.
Either we have the most up to date school buildings, or a bunch of people are geting rich on kickbacks from these contracts - from the Principals on down...
