Cheney makes grand entrance at NASCAR race By NEDRA PICKLER, Associated Press Writer Published: Saturday, July 1, 2006 Updated: Saturday, July 1, 2006

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - The stock cars weren't the only things buzzing the track at Daytona Saturday - Vice President Dick Cheney made his grand entrance when Air Force II flew in low over the crowd gathering for the start of the NASCAR race.

Cheney's appearance at the Pepsi 400 was another chance this year for Americans to get a glimpse of the extraordinarily powerful vice president who normally operates behind the scenes. From the baseball diamond to the speedway oval, Cheney is turning up at lots of high-profile venues as part of an all-hands-on-deck effort at the White House to improve the GOP's standing going into the November election.

Saturday offered a double-dip in the all-important political state of Florida: visiting the Kennedy Space Center and then catching the race, complete with a visit with the drivers and their crews.

Cheney hoped to see Discovery blast off on the first shuttle mission in nearly a year, but thunderstorm clouds forced a postponement. Cheney said he was disappointed, especially because he brought his three granddaughters along for the occasion.

"We'll have to bring them back another day," Cheney said. "It's a great program, and it's important that we keep going and keep our space program going."

Nedra Pickler then unsuccessfully tried to remove a Brillo Pad logged in her butt since joining the AP.

I've always loved this man of iron who helped make the NYCrimes' Clymer an American euphemism.

Cheney looked really good, very chipper too in his interview. The left despises him, villifies him, and everytime Cheney makes an appearance, he makes monkey meat of his detractors. Oh how they must hate that!

Nedra lost a nights sleep wondering why in the world the NASCAR drivers would give VP Cheney a standing O. She finally decided it was nothing but a bunch of southern rednecks who really did not understand the dastardly deeds of Cheney and the President and especially that pesky Karl Rove.

What they really hate is seeing that he is so popular to the huge chunk of middle America that is represented by NASCAR.

I love Dick Cheney! He needs to take his big old plane and buzz the NY Slimes building. Now THAT would be cool. ;)

I saw him on TV today too, and both he and Lynn looked to be in perfect health. Heard he got a big "Go" on his medical exam today, too.

2008? (Wheeeee!)

Did you see the picture of Cheney of the right hand side of this article? A deliberate choice to make him look bad?

The face of a man helping to lead America to victory.

A man who doesn't take bupkis from the likes of Pelosi, Reid, Kerry, Murtha and the rest of the misguided left.

The face of a man determined to keep America strong, free, and great.

Good comparison. I like Rumsfeld too. When I look at these men that is exactly what I see real men. I can't stand girlie/boys/men like Brian Williams or Shepard Smith. ew!

Nedra actually reported that he got a standing O? I'm really surprised. That must have deeply saddened her.

A deliberate choice to make him look bad?

I didn't get that impression, to me his face is of a strong, no nonsense leader.

I can't stand watching Shepherd Smith even for a moment. He's has gone over tho the dark side and has become a full blown MSM weasel.
