Woman Faces Charges After Road Rage
by The Associated Press
Published Jul 01, 2006

Police charged an Orleans County woman after a road rage crash killed a passenger in her car.

Karen Greene, 20, of Medina, was charged with criminally negligent homicide and reckless driving for allegedly causing the death of Robert Crump, 19.

The crash happened in February on Mount Read Blvd. in Greece.

Authorities said before the crash happened, Greene pulled in front of a pickup truck that had stopped in front her and then slammed on her brakes.

The truck's driver said he tried to avoid the car, but the car pulled alongside him then hit a utility pole.

Greene pleaded not guilty and was released to a probation program. She returns to court July 7.

"and was released to a probation program..."

Seems like two or three years in jail would be more appropriate.

****Authorities said before the crash happened, Greene pulled in front of a pickup truck that had stopped in front her and then slammed on her brakes. ****

One would have to assume that the pickup had stopped in front of her , moved on and then she passed it and then slammed on her brakes.

Whoever wrote this story did a poor job of it and didnt place enough information in it for anyone to really know what happened.

About 5 years ago on I-474 near me, a woman was trying to pass a slow moving car in the passing lane when the car she was trying to pass finally moved over the woman in the car that was passing leaned toward her passenger side and was yelling out the window at the other driver, when she lost control and hit the left shoulder her car rolled into the opposite lanes where she met a semi head on. She was beheaded. Plenty of witnesses saw the whole thing

Don't lose your head over some idiot driver.

I saw a fellow like this about two hundred yards ahead today.

His dispute was with another driver, not me.

I slowed down and was prepared to apply the brakes if a pileup occurred.

You really have to watch for this around here. You can be going the speed limit on one lane highways and someone will pull up behind and flash their lights. If you don't take the shoulder they part the sea as they go around and cut really fast and I've had a few hit their brakes before they go on.

"The crash happened in February on Mount Read Blvd. in Greece."

That's pretty far from here. ;-)

Aren't the Greece Police too busy attacking McDonald's to have time to deal with idiotic drivers?

This is atrocious writing by the author, who should be fired for this negligence and incompetence. Either a noob or a lib.

There were two idiots in your scenario.

The idiot who was blocking the passing lane was at the very least partially responsible for this one. (Not in a legal sense, perhaps, but at least morally)

Ah, but you say the women who went ballistic was at fault and she paid? Well what if the oncoming truck had instead been a car full of kids?

This is why I am so outspoken about people staying the heck out of the passing lane if they are not passing. And folks, if you are passing out there in the left lane and someone comes up on your tail, get out of the way! You never know what is going on in the mind of that driver. (As evidenced by the scenario in Graybeard's post)

Will the carnage never end? How much longer must all people suffer at the hands of the deranged because some antiquated law lets them have driver's licenses and they can freely buy massive, powerful automobiles anytime and anywhere? This is an outrage! We need to ban cars immediately and force all of America to ride light rail or ride bicycles. We would all be so much better off and healthier, too.</sarc>
