Man gets life in prison for impregnating, photographing teenage girl
Waco Tribune ^ | July 01, 2006 | Tommy Witherspoon

Posted on 07/02/2006 4:38:36 AM PDT by driftdiver

A seven-time convicted felon who sexually abused his girlfriend’s 13-year-old daughter, got her pregnant and took lewd photographs of her was sentenced to life in prison Friday.

..

The jury of five men and seven women deliberated about 90 minutes Friday morning before convicting the lifetime criminal of aggravated sexual assault of a child and 11 counts of possession of child pornography.

The jury recommended that Witt be sentenced to life for the sexual assault, 60 years in prison for each of eight counts of child pornography that showed the girl’s breasts and 80 years in prison for each of three photos that showed the girl’s genitals.

The pornography counts stem from nude photographs Witt took of the girl during their six-month odyssey as transient thieves traveling through four states that began in late 2003, just weeks after Witt was released from prison.

...

The girl’s mother, Rebecca Linton, met Witt while she was a secretary at an Oklahoma prison where he was serving time. She is serving a seven-year federal prison term for aiding and abetting the production of child pornography.

.....

Witt’s attorney, Russ Hunt Sr., asked jurors to find him not guilty because, despite Witt’s admissions that he had sex with the girl in four states and five major cities, prosecutors failed to prove he had sex with the girl in McLennan County.

...

“I feel sorry for Donnie because Donnie is just kind of a low-level criminal, and, unfortunately, he fell in love with a girl and didn’t have enough sense to say, ‘Hey, she is too young,’ ” Hunt said.

I like the judges sentence in this case although he should also put the mother in prison for bringing a convicted child pornographer into her house. And while we are at it we should put the defense attorney in jail.

Sad part is the guy could actually get out after 68 years.

Hard to imagine he would do anything like this....

I guess I overlooked that she is in prison for aiding and abeting. Only 7 years though. She should be in there for much longer.

Obviously our prison system is too nice if the people that work there don't mind getting put on the other side of the bars.

Perhaps, methinks he'll have a rough time trying to find a place to "sit" comfortably after 68 years. That's some small comfort. Thanks for posting an article that shows a measure of justice can be delivered now and then.

How many states do not have the three strikes law?(obviously at least one too many)

This defense attorney is really stretching it by saying that the perp didn't have enough sense to say "she's too young" considering the perp is a 48 y/o man!

Amen!
She should get life too. She brought the scumbag into her daughter's life. She allowed the entire scenario of rape and porn to take place because she FAILED TO PROTECT HER OWN DAUGHTER.

The judges and juries almost always let off women....they cry so well (Practice.) and sucker judge and jury alike.

If it weren't for mommy-dearest there would have been no rapist or pornographer in the house.

According to the article the guy would be eligble for parole after a total of 68 years. Thats a combination of federal time and subsequent state time. I think the judge did pretty well ensuring this slime will never be on our streets again.

He shouldn't get death for rape and porn. That is a slippery slope. Karl Chessman got the gas chamber for rape and it so appalled the voters of California that they rescinded the death penalty for 25 years.
The scumbag got what he deserves: 60 years, or, for him, life.

MOMMY should get life too. She brought the scumbag into her daughter's life. She allowed the entire scenario of rape and porn to take place because she FAILED TO PROTECT HER OWN DAUGHTER. I agree this is a tragic case and the guilty deserve to rot in prison. I fail to see why we should put the defence attorney in jail. The attorney may be defending a malicious criminal, but by doing so he is also defending our constitution.

A seven-time convicted felon who sexually abused his girlfriend’s 13-year-old daughter...

1. What is this sick pervert doing running around loose and alive?
2. The mother has to be a nitwit and should be thrown in the slammer as well!

Excellent points.
1. SEVEN-time felon? WHY isn't he still in prison? I thought felonies gave LONG term sentences.

2. MOMMY DEAREST was dating this scumbag and brought him into her HOME with a 13-year-old daugher?! She should be in the slammer for life as well -- "mommy dearest" failed to protect her daughter...and really is too stupid to live. How were scumbag and daughter ever left alone? I just don't get it. She's as guilty as the scumbag and deserves life. Her job IN LIFE is to protect her vulnerable, innoncent babies. She was dating a seven-time felon?! She left him ALONE with her daughter? Then let him do PORNO with her daughter....and aided and abetted him?!

How can the men on this thread bear the thought that this MOMMY-DEAREST is only in prison for seven years? SHE SET THE WHOLE THING UP!

Babies, she had twins and she put them up for adoption. The girl is living with relatives and in school. Hopefully these relatives are the good side of the family. Full article makes it sound like she's doing ok.

You're right!

Had this perverted crime been committed in a country, like Singapore, that is dedicated to punishing criminals and has absolutely no patience with sexual predators these two would get about 100 lashes with the brine-soaked rattan cane.

They probably wouldn't live through that, but if they did they'd spend the rest of their lives at very hard labor!

What they did to this 13-year-old's life (literally making it a hell on earth) warrants drastic punishment.

Regarding Witt(less)

Witt testified Thursday he saw nothing wrong with the sexual relationship he had with the girl.

He told jurors he had grown up in an abusive household and had been sexually abused as a child.

He said he isn’t crazy, but has three personalities: A woman, a street-wise man, and Donnie Witt.

Note to self... Next time I work at a prison, try to remember that it might not be such a good idea to date the inmates.

The lawyer probably gets stinking drunk each night so that he forgets his shame at trying to keep a predatory animal from going away for life, but, yes, he is defending the Constitution.
