You mean the top teams didn't pull out this year? In the real racing news from the weekend Tony Stewart won the Pepsi 400 (just damn!) and cinderella man Boris Said finished an improbable 4th.

Last year's debacle was Michelin, the French tire manufacturer's fault.
All teams will compete today and it should be fun.
American Scott Speed is starting from P 13.

There is still a good chance of scattered thunderstorms which could affect the race towards its end.

Alonso is starting from 5th place. Should be fun to see how he does in this race.

I ran into Scott Speed in the passport line in Frankfurt when he was on his way to Bahrain. The immigration officer was giving him a hard time because Scott told him he was an F-1 driver. The officer was suspicious and asked him several questions. After we both passed through I asked him a few questions about who he was driving for and my last question was "Are you related to Lake Speed". He rolled his eyes and said no. I guess he gets asked that one a lot.

Yeah, Solamente got all upset at some hard-core freepers (firebrand, Doctor Raoul, Mr. Silverback) for pinging him to an activism thread (Protesting the NYT), and started cutting them up. Was sarcastic over and over again to Raoul, and told Silverback to F himself.
So I made it a point to ping him to some important threads. Then he got really mad.
Now I just can't he'p m'se'f. A man's gotta ping who a man's gotta ping!

That was the French being their normal nasty selfish selves, as usual.
French tyre makers Michelin schowed their total arrogance and lack of regard for anyone when they pulled that stunt, and forced the Michelin teams to pul out.

Schumacher screwed everything up for himself when he pulled that stupid stunt in Monaco.
He is finished as far as this year's championship is concerned.
And he did it to himself.
He should know better after all these years.

I'm kinda pullin for Boris these days.
I was stunned last night when I tuned in and heard the phrase "Polesetter Boris Said" got a charge out of his interview where he talked about the Red Bull nonsense too.

I'll pull for anyone who comes out of a form of racing that requires right turns. I've seen Boris several times at Road Atlanta in Speed Touring, Speed GT, and ALMS.

I'm glad this discussion is back on with F-1, I remember the thread last year. Really disappointing. Looks like alls forgotten, and the racing spirit is back. Went to the Long Beach Grand Prix for many years when it was F-1, saw the first race there. The Renault back then had a 12 cylinder engine that really screamed. Remember Mario winning the F-1 race there to, he got a standing ovation from the crowd! Drove through Indy once on a trip across the U.S., great place, saw the museum, and got a bus ride around the track. Love the Indy tradition and thrill, but, in the end there's nothing like F-1, so I envy anyone there watching this race, I'm pulling for Alonso, he's grounded in reality and level headed. VP

I can beat that one. I rescued Boris Said when he rolled his Camaro on the outside of turn 1 at Road Atlanta. I can't remember if it was an old Firehawk race or an SCCA National. But it was back before Boris became a 'somebody.'
FWIW, he was uninjured. Just pissed he was out of the race.

Shoemaker wins again. Yawn. Meanwhile, I noticed a lot of empty seats in the stands. I wonder if last year's fiasco turned people off.

You know what they're broadcasting on my local CBS affiliate? That's right, the Hawaian beauty pagent. Later on in the day - after the international
poker championship - they're broadcasting LeMans at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut. My local ABC affiliate is currently broadcasting the IRL 300 race in Kansas City, KS.
I let these jerk-wad brain prodigy LOOOOOOOOOOO-sers have a piece of my mind.

Great race, however, 7 cars were eliminated in two separate accidents on the first lap - one of them, unfortunately, being American Scott Speed in his first US Grand Prix :(

As I recall, this isn't the first time that has happened to Speed. He eliminated a top contender in a first lap dust up in another race recently. Was it his fault?

Some sections are closed off as they don't provide good view of the F1 track.
The size of the crowd looked good to me at the start. But after Montoya and Speed were knocked out, it seemed to dwindle fast.

An exclusive from Bernie as he announced officially that South Korea and Mexico are officially added to the 2009 season.
The Mexican GP is still be around the Cancun area. For Korea, we do not know if it will be in a different venue other than Ansan.
For that, they announced that Imola and Hockenheim might be dropped.
And also announced that there might be a possibility for another US in the West Coast. I hope it will be Laguna Seca if it happens.
