I read in the Arts & Entertainment section of the OC register that radio station 89.9 KCRW in LA was featuring the following artists in honor of Independence Day:
Bob Dylan Bruce Springsteen Patti Smith DIXIE CHICKS (Yes, the ones that said (among other brilliant quotes), "The entire country may disagree with me, but I don't understand the necessity for patriotism. Why do you have to be a patriot? About what? This land is our land? Why? You can like where you live and like your life, but as for loving the whole country... I don't see why people care about patriotism."-Natalie Maines
Wonderful. Why didn't they inclue Kayne West? Note that KCRW is "National Public Radio's Southern California flagship station", so I am not too stunned. At least they are boosting radio play for the Dixie Chicks who can't seem to get their new Bush bashing record played on Country Music radio where they originally made their fortune & fame./sarcasm
I think they are misunderstanding the purpose of this holday. They ought to play Natalie's patriotism quote before each DC song and see how ridiculous it appears on the 4th of July.
This is a national public radio station? They'll have nine listeners. Max.
"National Public Radio" was all I needed to hear to explain this atrocity. The Republicans in Congress have absolute no neurons or testicles, since they keep fundiong these vermin.
Now it starts to add up. NPR hates Bush almost as much as the "Dixie Chunks" do.
So, let's estimate that the listening audience for the anti-American radio station is 9 people.
That will still exceed the ticket sales for the Dixie Hens concert tour.
However, the thought still lingers...A subsidized "Public" radio station receiving money from taxpayers uses that money to denigrate the things that these taxpayers hold dear.
'Something wrong here.
She skirts the meaningful facets of 'patriotism'.
Regardless, the divide is not only between red and blue states. Within those territories are struggling factions -- down to the smallest localities and elementary individuals who are locked in a mortal conflict for the greater soul the nation.
To love even one other person, your town or your block, is to love your whole country.
Minus all traitors.
If it weren't for the patriots, chickies, you might be working in a sweat shop speaking German or Japanese.
We've lived in and around the L.A. area for many years and I've never heard of KCRW. Guess I haven't missed anything according to the posts here on FR.
So listen to KZLA 93.9, they get it and don't play the ditzy chickens.
And stations playing their songs provides royalties for the anti-American Chicks.
The Dixie Chicks don't believe we should defend our country, and they're being featured on Independence Day?
The only things that are missing are Joan Baez and Peter, Paul and Mary
Don't fail to miss it.
I loved the interview on public radio with the new female presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church. She compared their assembly to hump-backed whales gathering to learn a new whale song each year. No, I am no kidding. I almost drove off the road.
BUMP!

LOL! Reminds me of those Saturday Night Live skits where they do the low-talking public radio chick hosts. Of course my all time favorite in this skit series was Alec Baldwin (yes he's a nut, but a talented one) named xxxxx Schwedii where he talked about his famous Schwedii balls ( a favorite dish) - "No one can resist my Schwedii balls."
" I don't see why people care about patriotism."-Natalie Maines " Dixie Chicks
Because you lamebrain the patriotic people love their country and won't bash the president to a foreign nation.
Since you chose to politicize your music you alienated a huge chunk of your fans. I really like your voice too but when I hear it now it is tainted by your own treacherous words. Not smart too trash your fans either.

Wouldn't the Ditzy Tits be more appropriate on May Day?
As long as people keep buying the Bolshevik Chicks' tickets and CD's they'll keep on blabbering.
KCRW is a Leftie station here in LA.
I STILL live here, and have no idea what station they are talking about.
At this time, public radio is about the ONLY place the Chicks can get airtime. Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!
I've hated NPR for years, but it's due to competition with a college radio station that I was on... We were this little podunk radio station (WARY- Westchester Community College in Valhalla, NY). We were on the same FM frequency as this monster NJ NPR station, and they kept on the FCC to have our license yanked, even though we were limited to (IIRC) 17 watts. On the other hand, the antenna was near the highest terrain point in the area, so we did get some coverage... About 10 - 15 miles in a directional pattern.
But were were constantly being harrassed, and never were able to get enough power to broadcast in stereo.

I heard this on a station here in atlanta,
"We're only playing this because it's controversial etc."
It was the most nothing piece of whiny dreck, Afternoon
Delight beat it by a mile!
About 6 years later, WALA-TV asked the PBS station if they could mount a small microwave relay dish pair on their tower (the one very they had originally donated) and the PBS station refused.
When this kind of radio gig is making the news, you know the Dixie Chunks are having a rough ride. Get used to it, Dixie Chunks, this is your future after your tour tanks and it becomes readily apparent that your album was artificially propped up to be #1 for a few weeks after debut.
