It isn't! As one of Patrick's flock (shudder), I always feel obliged to pipe up and defend my fellow citizens. I mean, yes, a goodly proportion of them are rock stupid and vote for Patrick because it's like owning an exotic pet. But the Republican Party has completely abandoned us here! They don't field candidates against him, and when somebody runs on his own dime, they don't help.
This year, you'd think he'd be especially vulnerable...but, no, the idea is apparently that it would be "mean" to "pick on him" at this difficult time.
Seriously, the Party has simply abdicated up here. Sure, it would be very hard to win elections. You'd probably have to throw some money at losing campaigns for a while. But if they act like they don't care and don't want New England votes, they're never going to get them.
Stupid party.
