As much as I think Jimmy was a crappy President, he did graduate from the Naval Academy and served honorably.
And thank God for it!

Someday folks are going to finally figure out that when you have lemons you make lemonade ~ and using your rejection from military duty as a way to attract campaign financing from leftwingnuts was an outstanding idea at the time.

Jimmy was in college when Pearl harbor was attacked in 1941, by 1943 when the pressure to enlist must have been terrible, Jimmy enlisted in the four year Annapolis class to go on active duty by 1947.
Because of an accelerated program, Jimmy actually managed to make it onto active status by June, 1946.

I followed the issues rather closely during the misrule of the loathesome Slick Willy, and I don't remember ever hearing that before.
I do remember seeing the letter he sent the ROTC instructor who got him out of being drafted on the promise that he, Beelzebubba, would enroll in ROTC.
