Fairly certain that pic is a fraud.

We had a Maine Coon named Mac who weighed in at 28lbs. He was one giant of a kitty. Sadly, he passed away from gastric cancer (surprisingly common for the breed).

Nope, it's true. Look it up on Snopes. It's a combination of a very short woman and a large Maine Coon Cat, plus the angle she's holding the kitty.

Until he catches a bird and the bones get stuck in his intestines.

Ewww... Has this happened to a cat you've owned? In all the cats I've owned that were birders, none ever had any problems eating what they caught.

The pic you posted looks like a super-sized purebred Maine Coon. There is some breeder out there who calls himself "Verismo," who purposefully breeds Maine Coons that large. The woman in the pic might also be small, giving the impression of a super-sized Maine Coon.

Looks like these fat cats need a low-carb diet. See the website on feline diabetes. My oldest one has porked out since I adopted her a year ago. I just switched to Innova Evo (apparently the only dry food on the market which is grain-free), and I'm hoping it will slim her down a bit.

It's not just about how many calories the cat eats. It's also about carbohydrate overload, which leads to too-high levels of insulin, then maybe pancreatic burnout and diabetes.

Cats are obligate carnivores... they don't do well on a diet full of grains and other excess carbohydrates. In fact, according to the feline diabetes website, cats don't need *any* carbs at all.

I think the woman is kinda small and the cat was at one time 27 lbs. It is a Maine Coon.
