When Dukes went to 3$ a jar, I tried them all, then moved to Kroger brand mayo. Tastes the most like Dukes (to me)
Had a hard time convincing the family, though....

I think the best line I read from an Iraqi who is tired of being hassled by the zealots about things that weren't around at the time of Muhammad, was his desire to remind them that the AK-47's they threaten people with weren't around back then either.

Falafels aren't kosher?

No, they are.

ALOUETTE'S FALAFEL

1 c. dried chickpeas, soaked overnight
1 medium onion
3 garlic cloves
1 jalapeno pepper
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground cumin
1 tsp. ground coriander
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 Tbsp. fresh chopped parsley
1 Tbsp. fresh chopped cilantro
4 Tbsp. bread crumbs
4 Tbsp. water
Vegetable oil for frying

Grind chickpeas, garlic, onion and jalapeno in food processor. Mix in bowl with remaining ingredients. Refrigerate for 1 hour.

Heat the oil in a wide saucepan or wok. Drop falafel balls by the teaspoon-full into boiling oil, fry until brown. You can add a jalapeno to the fry oil.

Serve in pita with hummus, tehina, tomato & cucumber, harissa.

Waiting for Muslims to declare that pita, hummus, tehina, tomato, cucumber and harissa are haraam

Personally I hate Miracle Whip, but two of my sons can't live without it. Go figure.

Personally, could never tell the difference, unless the jar was about 6 months old. The mayo always 'stood out' from the immitation at that point.

And with 116 degrees in Baghdad, mayo is probably not the best choice.

Ice was undoubtedly available in Mohammad's day.

Without traveling far you could make it in just about any time of the year.

The recipe is simple ~ first prepare a large shallow pool. Fill it with water to the depth of half an inch or so.

Make sure you do this in a very dry part of the world that has exceedingly clear skies, e.g. Iran, Iraq, Saudi, most of North Africa, etc.

In the morning, just before dawn, when everything is at it's coldest, soop up ice crystals from the top of the pool of water.

Place them in an insulated container and protect them from the Sun.

The secret here is that the heat in the water will radiate through the clear atmosphere out into space. For much of the year this will allow a degree of cooling sufficient to produce ice on the surface.

Folks in more Northerly climates, e.g. Anatolia, or up in the mountains, would save winter ice in springhouses.

BTW, having read through several translations of the Koran and having consulted with several highly educated mullahs, I find nothing that says that ice is forbidden to Moslems. The idea that something that didn't exist in Mohammad's day is prohibited is simply BS concocted on the spot for the purpose of killing people or stealing their businesses. It's a "con".

Mayo is basically eggs and oil.

We Jews have all kinds of crazy laws about what is and isn't kosher for Passover. Like, "if the Hebrews didn't have it during the exodus from Egypt, it's not kosher."

Well, they had chickens, so therefore they had eggs, and they had oil, because the Bible mentions oil.

So therefore, mayo is kosher for Passover.

They can have the whip, but no miracles. Mohammed, the false prophet never performed miracles.

You have just described the origins of Islam.

But they sure as hell didn't have a ham sandwich to put it on.

Must have been Chicken Salad. ;~))

Naw, Islam wasn't concocted to provide an excuse for killing people. The Arabs in Mecca and Medina had a reputation for that going all the way back as far as history has known of them.

Doesn't mean you won't find Moslems who use their interpretations of the Koran as an excuse to kill of course.

I get your point but lets be more specific... THEY were not around when Mohammad created Islam, so THEY should go ahead and remove themselves.
