More urgent prayer requested for baby Clare. She was born 3 days ago at 1 lb, 14 Oz, and is fighting for her life. The grandmother told us that the Doctors diagnosed Triasamine? and some brain damage. They intend to un plug her in the morning. Do any of the preme parents that wrote in tell us what Triasmine is? At this point, we need a miracle for this little one to survive...thanks to all for their prayerful concern...

Possible, but we just wrote down what we heard..don't know the spelling, and the grandmother was just a little distraught...any answers???

Are you sure it wasn't something like trisomy 21? That's related to Down syndrome, I believe.

trisamine is a pharmaceutical agent used for emulsifications
never heard of that word used as a disease.

do you mean tyrosinemia?
if so, there is treatment in the form of NTBC + diet restrictions and ultimately liver transplant (for which this patient is not a candidate).
however, a baby less than 1 kilo has lots of other issues.
this baby is probably on TPN which can give a false elevation in the tyrosine level.
where is the baby admitted?

Thanks to the Prayer Warriors, I looked it up--it is Trisomy 18, she has the clubbed feet, clefted chin, clinched fist--everything that is a precursor to Down's...G-d needs to intervene in this case, but his will be done.

My father was born in 1919. His dad had died months before from the flue epidemic.

Dad was born premature and weighed 4#'s. They used the stove as an incubator. Had it set on low. It took awhile but he survived.

That was 87 yrs ago. He made it.
