FNC's Julian Phillips is losing his Fox & Friends Weekend anchor gig, FTVLive reports. The site says Phillips couldn't muster up on-screen chemistry with Kiran Chetry and Alisyn Camerota. D.C. correspondent Kelly Wright will replace Phillips "as soon as this weekend."
In addition, Rudi Bakhtiar is reportedly getting a higher-profile assignment in the 5pm hour. She may be used to attract more eyeballs to The Big Story; it was the lowest-rated weekday FNC program in the 25-54 demographic in the second quarter...

couldn't muster up on-screen chemistry with Kiran ChetryWhat male couldn't? Other than, you know, Barney Frank types...
To: frankjr
I find Kiran Chetry easy on the eyes.So why'd you post two pics of him and none of her??? ;)
To: frankjr
Oh, drat. More eye candy for the guys. Julian was the only adult on any of the morning shows. Double darn.

Julian is off the weekend F&F. (he went to Princeton you know)
He was a wimp who let a girl destroy him at basketball.
Kelly is there this morning.

Is this the start of the liberal purge at Fox? I hope so.
This move was way overdue.

Julian went to Purdue--the other "P" school. Don't forget he has all the accolades to prove it. I guess Ailes' predicted purge has begun.

Kelly Wright is a wonderful person and deserves to have a chance show his stuff. He is a Christian and can sing.

I just don't see Kelly keeping the new gig.
Kelly seems to be a serious news person.
These morning shows tend to have a greater portion of entertainment than information, silliness than seriousness.
I just don't see Kelly being a regular in the silliness.

Weekend programming on FNC, or lack thereof, is a constant topic on the Sunday t.v. talk show thread, maybe they are listening after all.

Great move by Roger Ailes. I posted about a week ago that Kelly Wright should get a larger role within the Fox News Cable venture.
I never much cared for Julian Phillips, he seemed ill informed and kind of a weasel. Good bye and have a nice career, maybe MSNBC will pick you up.
To: cripplecreek
I hope she uses those guns when she rings Keith Olberman's doorbell.
To: frankjr
What a RELIEF! Julian needs a gig on a cooking show or something like that...I will not miss him on FOX.
Wright is terrific!

I don't remember whether it was O'Really or Blabbity and Crumbs. Which ever it was, he didn't get nearly as much time as he's been getting on the weekends and it was easier to just tune him out.
To: mariabush
For Pete's sake don't tell the world he's Christian! The New York Times won't stand for this.

These morning shows tend to have a greater portion of entertainment than information, silliness than seriousness. Amen. The "Big 3," Fox and CNN are all heavily laden with faux-cutesy chit-chat in the hours before 10 am. Fox and Friends is as bad as, if not worse than, any of them.
Could I just get some f'n NEWS in the morning? Is that too much to ask? I don't care about the anchors' personal lives, and I'm not tuning in for contrived "chemistry." I just want the damned headlines. I'm forced to tune to the local morning shows, because in between the latest stabbing and last night's apartment fire, at least they throw in a little traffic and weather now and then.
I'm way past ready for the BBC to launch its US news channel and my cable provider to pick it up, because whatever else they do right or wrong, at least they never giggle. I think giggling is a fireable offense at the Beeb.
To: frankjr
Fox Morning gives me clogged arteries. Are these morning tv people genetically predisposed to horribly relentless cheer and goodwill?
I can't listen. I'd have to throttle them before my sixth cup of coffee.

You're right, the cutesy, chit-chatty Fox 'n Friends is that otherwise excellent network's Achilles heel.
I first noticed Julian Philips as the weekend token liberal when he flared up at any criticism of his idol, Bill Clinton.
Please, folks, a little more seriousness in the morning.
To: avital2
I like her too, and I think she adds a great deal to the show (without taking anything from Gibson, HeeHee!). I used to watch Gibson on MSNBC when he left there I stopped watching all of MSNBC. It was a good thing. :0)

"Phillips couldn't muster up on-screen chemistry" Being a left wing moon-bat has nothing to do with chemistry.
To: frankjr
plus I find Kiran Chetry easy on the eyes. Me too, especially when she puts some curls in her hair.
But I prefer Allisyn, especially when she sports her leather skirts and boots.
To: frankjr
For all the reasons folks have listed on this thread, I, too, am glad that Phillips is gone. I'll add one other reason I'm glad he's gone...no one will have to watch that oaf masticate on screen anymore! Watching Phillips during any of their cooking segments made me ill! Goodbye and good luck!

That's very good news indeed. I could not put up with Julian and his nonsense. I have always like Kelly.
Like you, I think Kiran is a babe, but he is not quite so fresh and pretty as she was before she had her baby. I guess going through the birth process, the change in hormones, the weight loss, and the not getting enough sleep due to taking care of the baby have taken a bit of a toll on her looks. She will get her looks back soon enough, as long as the dang weatherman leaves her along and doesn't knock her up again too soon.
