Caltrans ordered a longtime Laguna Beach day labor center to close Friday, saying it was illegally operating on state property, land that the state didn't even know it owned.
The state Department of Transportation issued the order after a Laguna Beach resident who is a member of the Minuteman Project border patrol group checked property records and brought the information forward as part of a protest against the center.

I heard about this on KFI 640 AM, during the John and Ken Show. Eileen Garcia, the woman who made it happen, mentioned she is planning on addressing the issue before the Lake Forest City Council on, I believe, Tuesday. She asked for supporters of shutting down the facility to show up. Apparently, the shut down order is going to be resisted by those in support of the center.

I was just in Laguna last weekend and was surprised to see a very "official" looking pick up spot for day laborers complete with: Wooden signs (painted official city colors), Bus Stop like shaded waiting area, signs directing cars to a pull off location, coolers for drinking water.
As a minimum it was condoned by the city and probably paid for by the city. This was on Laguna Canyon road near the Festival of the Masters.
I wonder if this was the one closed down?

(At least drunken sailors spend their own money, Congress doesn't.)
That would appear to be the case.

LOL! I loved some of the leaders of the ILLEGALS in those street marches
whining about how "our people have been invisible".
I hate to tell them, but I guess I was able to see invisible people.
They clogged the emergency room at Kaiser-Permanente Hospital on
Cadillac Drive when I was working in LA (1995-2005).
