"I hope the people who need to see it, see it."

Liberals are such arrogant, out-of-touch, smug little...

Liberals....Ah to be so enlightened and aware. To have the knowledge of how to cure all the world's ills. BARF!
BTW I have yet to see Al Gore or any of the rest tell us all how to stop, change,or reverse global warming even if it was ever proven. Like always, all the libs and/or dems. have is complaints and problems, never a plan or solution.

These liberals have no shame. I cannot believe this article. The SF Chronicle is trying to make this movie into a hit when obviously it is not. Just look at the numbers.

More people saw Alexander. And that's saying something.

And that movie sucked...

It just started at our nearby AMC multi-plex, with 4 showings. How does it possibly hope to compete with the big entertaining movies out this week though? Who wants to spend $9 or more each to watch this ridiculous "documentary"?!

This is San Fran hoping its liberal infection actually spreads beyond the Bay. Gore's movie is well--about like the Chicks' tour.

"A key challenge to wooing that pickup driver would be overcoming any feelings he had for Gore, who carries a ton of political baggage for a movie star."???

Movie Star??

I also just noticed this was page A-1... Did someone pay for this ad or did the SF Chronical do it for free??

The third highest grossing documentary ever is an embarrassing flop? What high standards you must have.

Gore must be delighted with the performance.

I'd like to see the top 20 grosses to compare.

Yeah, that's the ticket! The infection could reach Tennessee. Maybe next time Al will be able to carry his own "Home State".

"What exactly is an "off-the-chart" audience recommendation?"

Such a small number as to be insignificantly different from zero (i.e. of the bottom of the chart)

Me too. Those would be the people who dispose of worthless rubbish.

I think film critic James Berardinelli got it right when he criticized this film: "The problem with An Inconvenient Truth isn't the message; it's the messenger. If the film's goal is to educate and warn about Global Warming, why use one of the most divisive political figures of the last decade as the spokesman?"

Global warming really is a serious issue, but it's not going to appeal to people who hear it just because it's Gore saying it. I don't even know if there is such a thing as a celebrity seen as "politically neutral" but I think one at least close to that would've been good or a noted professor.

United 93 - $39M world-wide (dramatization, but it contains more facts than any of the three mentioned here.)

"Truth" is the third-highest-grossing political documentary of all time, behind Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" (which grossed $119 million) and "Bowling for Columbine" ($21 million).

The fact is that this "Inconvenient" farce has a good chance of becoming the largest grossing documentary of all time. That is, if it they continue playing it in theaters for 5 or 10 years!

Heck, it has a chance of becoming the highest grossing movie of all time, regardless of genre, if they keep it in theaters for about 100 years.

How can anyone call "Fahrenheit 9/11" and "Bowling for Columbine", and now AlGoreBore's POS "A Convenient Lie", DOCUMENTARIES? WTF?

Maybe by checking them out from their local library. I wouldn't disagree with your assessment, but most libraries across the country have "Fahrenheit 9/11" cataloged as non-fiction and described as a documentary. I checked out a sample from east to west, north to south, when I first heard of it. Doesn't make it true, but lots of people seem to have bought into scam - maybe even half the country.

Compared to "The Passion of the Christ" at $370 million."

Better yet, so as to not even compare such a great movie as TPOTC with this garbage, how about comparing them to a movie sequel based on an amusement park ride. I see the new "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie opened Friday with the biggest opening in Hollywood history at about $55.5 million dollars. By the end of the weekend it will probably already have left Mikey Moore's crap in the dust. LOL!!!
