Is Sheehan Fasting or Pulling a Fast One?
Pravda ^ | July 7, 2006 | Steve Darnell

Posted on 07/08/2006 11:55:24 AM PDT by Abitaconservative

Liberals, appeasers and other America haters at home and abroad can now rejoice: Cindy Sheehan and her rabble rousing group called Codepink: Women for Peace, are going to single handedly force President Bush to withdraw troops from Iraq.

Sheehan, and her strange feminist sisterhood, have recently adopted a plan to join the ranks of Mahatma Gandhi and Cesar Chavez by conducting a hunger strike in order to make a peaceful political statement. The women plan to fast until President Bush pulls US troops out of Iraq.

According to Codepink “hundreds of celebrities, veterans, mothers, and concerned citizens across the country will participate in a rolling fast.” Strikers will include pro-marihuana activist and musician Willie Nelson along with America hating actors, Danny Glover, Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon.

When I first heard the news about Sheehan’s fast I thought I would see some real suffering. You know, something death defying like the time David Blaine sat in a Plexiglas cage on the River Thames in London fasting for 44 days.

Of course, being the weak kneed liberals that they are, Sheehan and her group are not exactly fasting like David Blaine, Mahatma Gandhi or Cesar Chavez by starving themselves for 20 or 30 straight days, but instead making up their own fasting rules. Simply put, they are conducting a rolling fast.

What's that, a "fast" that keeps the rolls on their bellies intact?

Welcome to FR.

A 'rolling fast'? One day? I hope they don't put themselves out too much.

What is a rolling fast? Each person taking part in the Codepink protest will fast for only one day and then pass the fast on to one of his or her liberal friends. This friend will in turn fast for only one day and then pass the fast along to another friend. Sort of like a huge, hunger chain letter, but of course the protester can eat when his or her shift is over.

They don't have the resolve and integrity, or honor to even claim to be in the same class of activist as Ghandi.

This is not a fast.

For gods sake, even the muslim terrorists fast longer then this and would find this embarrassing.

FWIW, fasting for a cause is like mental masterbation, it feels like something, but its not doing anything.

And most of the folks you have a problem with, simply view it as a slow form of removing yourself from them.

Its probably the most ineffective form of protest there is....well, now the 2nd, next to "rolling fasts".

Is Sheehan Fasting or Pulling a Fast One?

Cindy Sheehan is a nut job with a lot of subversive enablers.

She is a freaking disgrace to her son, this Country, and to those who have commenced on a serious hunger strike concerning their principles.

1981: Bobby Sands dies in prison

Hunger striker Bobby Sands has died in prison 66 days after first refusing to eat.

The 27-year-old republican spent the last days of his life on a water bed to protect his fragile bones.

I went longer than a week without eating once. I was laid off from work, not doing much, and I was pretty overweight. So I decided I wouldn't eat anything until I actually felt hunger in my stomach. I can remember how many days it was now, but it was over one week. By the time I finally felt hunger in my stomach I was thin, and I had lost 30 or 40 pounds. Kept it off, too.

When I see an article about this woman, I like to recall that the commanding general in Iraq is General Casey. He is the tribute to Casey Sheehan, that Casey Sheehan would most likely wish to be associated with. Casey Sheehan died after he volunteered to go on a rescue mission to extract troops who were pinned down in Sadr City. It happened on Palm Sunday just after he had been to Mass.

What amazes me is that they don't see how foolish and childish this makes them appear. The only people that think they are sacrificing are the wackos on the far left and that's preaching to the choir. Normal people including the not so far left Democrats, Independents, Moderates and of course Republicans must be laughing to the point of tears as I am now at these fools.

I once went a week eating nothing but sugar-free brewed iced tea and celery (cause I heard it took more calories to chew it than there was in the celery).
After which I collected this valuable life lesson: "Moonshine is not the best thing to consume after fasting for a week."
