I believe the root cause of that crash was improper lubrication of the jackscrew leading to a failure of the threads. I haven't seen anything to suggest that the part itself was not certified.

Wasn't the " Father of the 747 " I don't remember his name , but, he is still alive and old, but, he was quoted saying either last year or a few months ago that " the 747-8I " is the plane that the 747 was suppose to be " .
