I just spoke with Speaker Hasteret's Office. I am told that he is waiting for "more hearings" one in Mid-July and another in Mid-August before appointing conferee's on the Immigration Bill..... I told him that the AMERICAN PEOPLE want the HOUSE bill not the SENATE bill !!!
NOW IS THE TIME TO CALL SPEAKER HASTERET's OFFICE and tell him to APPOINT CONFEREE's NOW !!!

That would be a HUGE mistake IMHO..... I believe the American People.. BOTH DEM's and REP's will stand up for the HOUSE version of the bill the ONLY thing that is stopping this from going forward is the APPOINTMENT of Conferees.... we have been waiting since MAY !!

It might be a good idea to do it now rather than wait for the House to soften it's position. I believe everyone should know by now, what the people want.
To: KarlInOhio
I called Tancredo's office too... I was told that it is all in the Speaker's hands now... nothing ANY of us can do.... so I say we put the Pressure on Speaker Hastert NOW !

I would rather let the Senate bill completely die (i.e. send no House conferees) rather than take the chance on ANY of the Senate's amnesty provisions (including employer amnesty) becoming part of a comprimise.
But if a compromise bill is in our future, then if we let the Hastert hearings play out first, it will highlight the amnesty provisions in the Senate bill and make them less likely to be part of any final bill.
To: davidosborne
"what say YOU?"
I just called Hastert's office and told the aide not to send anyone to Conference. If the House no-shows the bill dies.

NOW IS THE TIME TO CALL SPEAKER HASTERET's OFFICE and tell him to APPOINT CONFEREE's NOW !!! Why?
There have been adequate Border Enforcement Laws in place for 20 years, there has been no attempt to enforce any of them. Why do we need more laws that will be ignored.
Let's face the facts, we are being hoodwinked again!

There have been hints that Hastert will stack the conference in favor of amnesty. Such a betrayal will not go down well.

IMHO the "hearings" accomplish nothing except to stall the conference.... IMHO Hastert should seize the momentum of support the American People have given to the HOUSE bill... stalling this or kicking it to the next congress is NOT ACCEPTABLE to me.... this is not a Democrat or Republican issue.... the Senate failed to get the message that we want ENFORCEMENT and BORDER SECURITY.. we can take up the other stuff later..

We can support the House bill through the hearings. The House hearings is exposing the weaknesses in the Senate and bolstering the House bill. Speaker Hastert has the whole thing planned out
There is no rush.

Do you have any quotes from Senators "squealing".. Please post them.. I hope the SENATE gets the message loud and clear that they totaly blew it on this issue.. and the only way to save face is to get on board with the HOUSE bill... ... BTW I have yet to receive a single reply from my letter....

I think a STRONG Border Enforcement bill passing today will make enforcement a PRIORITY... it is not an issue to create "new laws" it is a statement of shifting PRIORITIES !!

Correct!
We have to keep the pressure on to insure that current laws are enforced.
Any time new laws are passed to correct a problem, the problem seems to get worse.

It is not a matter of making a "new law".. it is about making enforcement a PRIORITY.. we have the laws.. it is just that enforcement of same are NOT currently a National PRIORITY... this needs to change.. and the HOUSE version accomplishes this..

I don't think it is confusing the issue, by settleing this whole amnesty issue.. also congress needs to make it a CRMIINAL issue so that LOCAL law enforcement has the authority to charge offenders and U.S. Immigration MUST cooperate with prosecution...

Your letter, unfortunately, resembles the stuff politicians receive from mental patients. If anybody saw it besides the staffer, it was probably the Capitol Police. Want to be taken seriously? Get Strunk & White's Elements of Style and follow it religiously. But you will now need to send it under an assumed name, because yours is now permanently in the Nut File.
To: BeHoldAPaleHorse
thank you for your constructive critisim on my OPEN LETTER... I write many letters for many reasons.... this one was intended for DIRECT shock effect.... and I have recieved replies, and actually spoken personally to many officials, not just staffers... A letter is intended to communicate a message, and my message is clearly communicated in my letter.. if I wanted a pretty letter with elegant style I would have someone else write it for me with a stamped signature... but thanks for sharing your opinion...

thank you for your constructive critisim on my OPEN LETTER... I write many letters for many reasons.... this one was intended for DIRECT shock effect....Yup. And you most likely shocked
and I have recieved replies, and actually spoken personally to many officials, not just staffers...
Those were most likely undercover investigators attempting to elicit whether you're a harmless nut, or a dangerous nut.
A letter is intended to communicate a message, and my message is clearly communicated in my letter..
Yes, it communicates "I AM A COMPLETE NUTCASE!"
if I wanted a pretty letter with elegant style I would have someone else write it for me with a stamped signature...
My, such bitterness for a guy who's supposedly being listened to by all those important people.
