Actress Angelina Jolie will star in a movie as the widow of murdered Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, trade paper Daily Variety reported in its Thursday edition.
"A Mighty Heart," adapted from Mariane Pearl's memoir of the same name, will begin shooting within the next five weeks, the paper said. The book details Pearl's search for her husband, who was abducted and beheaded by militants in Pakistan in early 2002.
"I am delighted that Angelina Jolie will be playing my role in the adaptation of my book," Daily Variety quoted Pearl as saying. "I deeply admire her work and what she is committed to."
English filmmaker Michael Winterbottom, famed for such war-based films as "Welcome to Sarajevo" and "The Road to Guantanamo," will direct. Jolie's boyfriend, actor Brad Pitt, will serve as a producer of the project, which is set up at Paramount Vantage, the art-house arm of Viacom Inc.'s Paramount Pictures.
Considering the names referenced in this article, I can likely assume I would personally have no interest in wasting my money viewing this project.

Winterbottom is a very good filmaker. I remember Michael Medved raving about Welcome to Sarajevo.

I dont doubt your word,but to be frank I dont like the subject matter of the film.
Recently we had two brave American soldiers captured and cut up while performing their duty, watching Hollywood make a hero out of a journalist who stupidly went off on his own in search of a story doesnt much interest me.
She won already for 'Girl, Interuptted'.

Jolie is an exact match for the widder Pearl. Both are FLAMING liberals. Mrs. Pearl could not bring herself to blame her husband's assassins for killing him. After all, they were poor beleaguered Muslims.
I just looked it up on IMDB and yes, it paints US in a very bad light.
She admires Jolie's ability to bring in big Box Office...that's all.

Angelina Jolie Snags Jennifer Aniston’s Oscar Role
Hollywood insiders expected Jennifer Aniston to play the widow of slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in an upcoming biopic.
Aniston apparently thought she would too.
But now the former “Friends” star is reportedly fuming over ex-hubby Brad Pitt’s latest casting decision.
Pitt has chosen to give the movie role to his present squeeze Angelina Jolie.
It was Aniston who had convinced Pearl's wife to grant the film rights to Pitt and Aniston’s production company, Plan B, in the first place.
Ironically, Aniston had agreed to give Brad the ownership of the company as part of their divorce settlement.
A source told the UK Sun, "She's horrified that Brad has handed the role meant for her to Angelina.
It appears as though Jolie not only appropriated Aniston’s spouse, she managed to obtain a role that had previously been viewed as a potential Oscar shot for Aniston.
