FOIA Request - Wilson/Plame

I am going to submit a request to the CIA Inspector General under the Freedom of Information Act on Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame. If there is information already in the public domain on these subjects, I would appreciate you notifying me of the source.

I will request:

All written information on the official purpose of the mission of Joseph Wilson to Niger, who recommended it, who requested it, who signed off on it, who approved it.

All information on the security classification of the mission, the type of final report required, restrictions on release of the information to any outside parties, and any confidentiality agreements signed my Mr. Wilson.

All information on the type of final report to be submitted by Mr. Wilson, who reviewed and approved same, what restrictions were placed on the release of the material, what dissenting opinions there may have been regarding the report.

All information regarding the agency's reaction to Mr. Wilson's publishing of the results of his trip to Niger in the New York Times, what repercussions there were, what actions, if any, were taken against Wilson and/or Plame for making the trip results public, and any policy guidance on public release of CIA funded trip information.

All information within the agency that refutes or supports Wilson's claim that Plame's cover was blown and that she suffered damage to her career. Any information that suggests that Wilson himself blew her cover.

I appreciate any help on any of this information and any further areas I might pursue.

The CIA unit Plame worked for has been blamed for the accidental bombing of the Chinese embassy in Belgrade by NATO aircraft. From what I read, these people were trying to knock out a Serb facility that involved weapons of mass destruction. They had an address of this building and they used a city map of Belgrade to locate the target. Supposedly, they falsified a targeting order to NATO to make it appear it was being sent by the Pentagon. It was a comedy of errors though not too funny to the Chicoms.

I know very little about FOIA. Can you request all information regarding any previous FOIA requests made within the past 4 years with respect to Mr. Wilson and Ms. Plame to see if anyone else has used the special magic words to get documents?

Actually, since we have Saddam in jail and in trial, there is legally no reason to keep anything he did classified.

This is a big problem with the U.S. government. Once it is classified, even if by mistake or by golly, one plays hell in trying to get it fixed.

We need a solution and not the Specter solution. Saddam is gone. All things should be automatically declassifed. Same with the Soviet Union! It no longer exists. Declassify.
Same with the Teheran Embassy takeover. Different government, different time, declassify.

The Govt needs to "get it"!. And not just Joe Biden.

To this day, British intelligence maintains that Saddam Hussein sought uranium in Africa, recently underlined by a report from The Financial Times of London. The British government states "European intelligence officers have now revealed... human and electronic intelligence sources from a number of countries picked up repeated discussion of an illicit trade in uranium from Niger." The New York Times paraphrased the above with a clear-cut story titled: "Intelligence Backs Claim Iraq Tried to Buy Uranium." The essay leaves no doubt as to the claim of Bush in January 2003 that Saddam Hussein was not only was trying to procure uranium, but had been for years.

Wilson misled the Washington Post in June 2003, when he told the paper that the Niger intelligence was based on documents that had clearly been forged because "the dates were wrong and the names were wrong." In fact, Wilson had never seen the reports.

When the Senate committee staff asked Wilson how he could have come to that conclusion, Wilson replied that he may have "misspoken" (See first paragraph) to reporters.

I wish we could all e-mail Simon and Schuster and let them know they are buying the words of a proven liar.

They wouldn't be pleased to know that the Senate Bipartisan Intelligence Committee determined that what Joe Wilson discovered in Niger actually bolstered the Bush administration's position that Iraq was trying to purchase yellowcake. Wilson told the Congress in closed session one thing and then left those meetings and lied to the American public.

These are just two out of many people who said that Wilson outed his own wife in the Fox Green Room in 2002: Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely and Lt. General Tom McInerney

And then there is the matter of the bios. Wilson published the NYT editorial stating that he had a project with the CIA (that focused on her particular area of expertise) which was in itself a significant risk to his wife's supposed cover because at least 3 of Wilson's bios on the internet listed Valerie Plame by name as his wife. Thus far the only thing that I can remember that Wilson claims might have government attachment would be Wilson's travel. Might include questions regarding his travel if he went with anyone else and exactly where he departed and which countries he went through to get to Niger and return, and did the agency make the travel arrangements.

I would think that a 10 year SSBI would be the minimum, with 5 year reviews thereafter, although the lie detector tests might not be required.

While you are at it, ask if Lyin' Joe's second wife (Jacqueline) was ever vetted by State, CIA or FBI (she was a French "cultural attache" - read "spy") in the Congo when Wilson married her. Coincidentally, at that point, the Congo was being run as the personal plantation of one "Charles Pasqua" whose name you will recognize from the "Oil-for-food" scandal.

Ask for the name of the Saddam's "principal arms buyer in Paris" that Wilson met with on the night before the Iraq's invasion of Kuwait.

Ask for information on whether Wilson's (or Jacqueline's) name appears on any documents related to "l'Affaire Elf" (the timeline and dateline of which intersects Wilson's stint as ambassador to Gabon).

Ask for any documents which trace Lyin' Joe's income - particularly those that show payments from the French DGSE laundered through Elf-Gabon and coming out as consulting payments from Gabon president Omar Bongo.

This is just a short list.

Also I came across several times people researching this have pointed out that she was included in the brief biography included with Wilson's name for the EPIC (Education for Peace in Iraq Center) conference at which Wilson spoke on June 14, 2003. However when I followed the link, apparently the bio has been changed because she is no longer there.

Just for the real, possibly still living, covert sources and methods indentifying type data that will be exposed to the discerning eye, when the FOIA is invoked, mind you.

An Embassy is a few acres granted to a foreign nation as their own territory. One does not attack without it being an ACT OF WAR! Countries normally expel the government and then take back the property until relations are reestablished.
