Washington- The Senate voted unanimously Thursday to bolster security at U.S. borders by pumping hundreds of millions of dollars into more patrols, surveillance flights and sensors to catch illegal immigrants sneaking into the country.
Senators approved the $32.7 billion budget for the Homeland Security Department next year by a vote of 100-0. But they rejected proposals to boost funds for cities and states at high risk of terrorism attacks, a sore subject amid a recent spate of terrorism-related arrests and threats targeting metropolitan areas.
With border security and immigration reform a top election-year priority, the Senate also agreed to make digging tunnels under the border a felony but rejected adding another 370 miles of fencing along the 2,000-mile U.S.-Mexico border. About 75 miles of the border is now fenced. The House has voted to add 700 miles of fencing.

Did you know this, had you heard about this?
You got that right.
They are hoping no one hears about it. The GOP controlled senate strikes again.
Votes 00200 (370 miles of new fencing) and 00201 (hire 800 full time active duty investigators to investigate immigration laws violations) were both rejected.

Whew.. I thought I had a
Breaking News for a second.. ;-)
I like the keyword, it says it all.
I been out camping so I wanted to make sure,, Thanks!
Oh, that ought to strike fear into the illegal invaders. they are such law abiding citizens and all.........
United States SINate = worthless
Nah--Kellynla was on top of it, as usual. :-)
I hadn't seen that thread earlier but I did hear a brief mention on the news (last night, I think).
Rejecting the fence is foolish. A fence is a force multiplier. It allows you to protect more of the border with fewer patrols.
Heck, the 370 miles of fence INCLUDED the present fence.
I heard it FRiday night too,, couldn't snag a conection tho,, we were in the boonies, sort of.. we had Indian casinos close by .. whew!
Whatsa matter? You don't like all that nature? lol.
Next the Senate will be voting to tear down the existing 75 miles of fence.
There are a few such as John Cornyn (R-TX) who still have some 'nads when it comes to the Illegal Immigration issue.
As a matter-of-fact, I beginning to think that Senator John Cornyn of Texas might make a doggone good VEEP Candidate for Condi.
Everyone should always watch carefully what the senate does after noon on Thursday and/or when there is distractions going on in the world... they do the most mischief when they think no one is watching.
....you mean the same John Cornyn who proposed this absurb bill and in this post was being lambasted by FReepers..
Hmmmmm. Got me there padnuh. I need to go back to the drawing board, huh?
...haha....not really.....I like Cornyn myself....but even the good guys are getting goofy with this immigration issue....I for one don't engage in name calling and the like...and think most on the Repub side are trying anything to solve this issue....
Fifty years ago this Senate would have been jailed for treason. Today they all run for president.
Your eagle is taking it easy today devolve.
...that's the one!
He's hungry now!
