Iran warns Israel of “unimaginable losses” if Syria attacked

Iran warned its arch-enemy Israel Sunday of “unimaginable losses” if it attacks Syria adding that the Islamic republic was “standing by the Syrian people”.

“We hope the Zionist regime does not make the mistake of attacking Syria, because extending the front would definitely make the Zionist regime face unimaginable losses,” foreign ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told reporters.

“Iran is standing by the Syrian people,” he added.

“We have offered and will offer Syria and Lebanon spiritual and humanitarian support,” Asefi said, reiterating Iran’s denial that it is providing military and financial assistance to the Hezbollah movement.

He also hit out at the United States after President George W. Bush said Israel had “every right to defend itself”.

“The United States has had a destructive role by vetoing resolutions and hence encouraging the Israeli crimes,” Asefi said, referring to Washington’s use of its veto in the UN Security Council Thursday to block a resolution calling for a halt to an Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip.

“The United States should reconsider its policies and correct its wrong attitude of supporting the Zionist regime.”

Remember everyone, the US has the abilty to put a swift end to the Islamic threat to the world. There's no need to allow millions to die while pursuing a "measured response" policy. That's nonsense that gets more people killed in the long run. We got the power,,use it, and move on.

Forget the 4th century, send them to hell.

In today's world, would that be a distinction?

Not just. Per Betsy Newmark, ten Iranians were in NoKo during the failed missile launch

Would that be similar to the measured response Russia has to the Chechens?

Oh wait. They don't have money.

I promise you that ultimate scenario is being war gamed intensely by American military and Israeli military.

What is Iran going to do when the US hits it on three fronts (from Afghanistan and Iraq) as well as from the Persian Gulf?

Bring it on now with the least potential negative impact for the world's future!

I'm reminded of Pres. Clinton's words...."We can kill them tomorrow"...when defending his nonchalance regarding these problems.

I'm also reminded of the saying, "Today is the tomorrow you spoke about yesterday"

Worst case scenario-- This escalates over the next 30 days to where the end game becomes us bombing to sh!t Iran's nuclear facilities. I promise you that ultimate scenario is being war gamed intensely by American military and Israeli military

No doubt it's being planned for, but unlike the Israelis, the Americans are not interested in seeing things reach that point. $8 a gallon gas and an influx of Iranian suicide bombers descending on Iraq in retaliation would not be conduscive to us winning midterm elections.

Wait a minute.

Iran yanked Hizbollah's puppet strings to start this. Iran keeps Hizbollah armed in Lebanon.
Iran can pull Syria's strings

This is bigger than just going after Iran. This is the war that OBL wanted and couldn't get.

I'm glad it's not just me.

L-rd knows there enough good reasons to take the mullahs out, but at this point I want it done just to teach them not to let their mouths write checks that their asses can't cash.

NATO is doubling it's troop numbers in Afghanistan suddenly. Something's up. It's just not being broadcasted.

While everyone here runs down the Iranians, I would like to mention that it is common knowledge that they have missiles that can reach Israel. They also have all sorts of nuclear material, they are very capable of building a dirty bomb and making targets in Israel uninhabitable for years.

This would almost certainly result in a nuclear response from Israel. And this leads where no one wants to go.

Similar radiation attacks here are also possible. I can personally think of several ways to obtain and detonate a radiation bomb here in any number of high value target areas.

Are we willing to go to nuclear war to support Israel? Actions have consequences, you would have thought we would have learned that already from 911.

Too subtle for me - I don't know what your point is, - is there an implication that somehow I am supportive of Saddam/Ahmadinejad?

The reality is that right now things are going pretty well for Iran. They look good to the Arab 'street' with their missle damaging an Israeli ship, and the focus is off their nuclear program. Not only that, the Europeans and others are probably even less inclined than they were a few days ago about pressuring Iran for fear of a greater conflict in the middle east.

Ahmadinejad may be insane, but that does not make him stupid. He and his backers have successfully put the west in a very difficult and dangerous situation with their nuclear program - perhaps the most difficult we've faced in many generations.

Answer = Yes

I dont know why everyone says 'place you dont want to go', Yes it leads to nuclear war. That is what the mullah wants to see! And they have sufficient funding to go there, and there are now a sufficient number of nuclear players where he can get it. And if they nuke israel, you can bet your last shekel that chicago will be next. These people are NOT out to protect their own skin, they want YOURS.

Israel is the line in the sand. Dont Cross It.
