Bottom line, the Human Relations Commission, Department of Labor and a dozen other taxpayer agencies need to drum up business because not enough Latinos are self-identifying as victims.

This problem really aggravates the guilt ridden liberals.
Illegals and all Hispanics are able to buy houses with conventional mortgages in the middle class suburbs. The economy is booming with full employment and more among Hispanics. They have lavish bar-b-q's in their back yards and compete with the inlaws to showoff who can have the most expensive grill and put the most expensive food on the backyard table.
How are Lisa Madigan's people, and Blago's people, and all the local agencies and commissions possibly going to justify their existence if these Hispanics don't wake up and realize how oppressed they really are?
Members of my family have served proudly in the US military, and we are all American Patriots.
Educate yourself; not all hispanics do that. We don't ; my family is more Americanized than you could imagine.

I think you know what I am talking about. It's easy to talk about another ethnic group in general without considering that they are individuals who do not fall into the sterotype of grand backyard barbeques on expensive grills, etc. Most latinos that I know are hard working and do not have time to buy into the victim role.
A little tongue-in-cheek to get people to think outside their pre-conceived knee-jerk opinions.

I blame the news media for that misconception. They have been using the words "latino" and "hispanic" as euphemisms for illegal aliens from Mexico for far too long.
It is just not the "left". There are plenty on this forum who are trying to do the same.
Hispanics identify themselves as "white" and therefore not oppressed.
I may have used the wrong terminology and, without intention, offended someone. For those in the know I'd appreciate help understanding!
If I am referring to illegal aliens that are specifically from mexico, what is the correct way to say it? Do I simply say, illegal aliens and when, if ever, is it appropriate to be more specific and use the words latino or hispanic? TIA

I agree with you on the MSM issue.
Most American's are screaming about "illegal immigrants" (and not just from Mexico) and the media keeps saying "immigrants". People need to pay attention how the MSM uses their words. Or in some cases the lack of.
Given the choice of white vs. non-white they will say white.
The term "Hispanic" covers a lot of folks. But this is true of Mexicans also.
