Elvis is pretty universal, so here's hoping. Even is he isn't, I just hope the next PM is as much of a friend and ally as this Prime Minister is.

But it's fun silly crap.

Feel free to make up your own mind about the pics---to me, they tell me more about the dynamic at the G8 than thousands of words printed in the LSM.

I agree with you about Blair, especially as to how he apparently was walking. Not good.

From last picure: "Bush is a lot more media-savvy than people give him credit for"

Wow....these idiots are just now figuring this out???

My amatuer interpretation:

These pics are great because Bush looks large and in charge.......and other world leaders are wanting to be around him and want to be a part of whatever he is doing....no one wants to be left out!!!

Media Schadenfreude and Media Shenanigans PING

BBC Expert's view: Blair looks bad in a lot of these pictures. The others are walking quite purposefully, but Blair is very stiff and erect, as if he has stopped - the others all look as if they are moving forward.

Weegee's view: Obviously Blair is NOT stationary, or else he would not be "next to" the other leaders. It is a selective editorial decision to run with a photo that has him out of step with the others. The 'expert' is using these words to draw an allusion to Blair politically.

Photograph someone walking down the sidewalk (consecutive images) and some will be better at conveying motion than others. Now work with multiple figures walking. You may like aspects of one image more than another. That is the secret. Sometimes it is best to "overshoot" coverage so that the editor has more photos to choose from.

This is a continuation of the type of jabs the press took at Bush running audio gaffes (when they heard the same speech delivered without flaw several times that week) or scowling images.

Also from the first vantage point, it does look as though Chirac came up and butted in. Bush did not even turn around toward him. Then you see Blair was there on the other side---as if Chirac came in and cut between Blair and Koizumi and Bush did not turn away, knowing Blair was still behind him.

IOW, Blair might be ticked that Chirac butted in.

Merkel family resemblance?

GREGG K. KAKESAKO / GKAKESAKO@STARBULLETIN.COM It was just after supper on Sept. 11, 2001, that Cmdr. Charles Merkel received notice of the terrorist attacks, and he and the USS Key West were ordered to go to the North Arabian Sea.

Yep, misunderestimation alert!

Exactly. These pics tell me about all I need to know about how Bush is operating on the world stage.

All I would "read" into that shot is that Tony Blair has a sore back, for whatever reason. He's moving almost as if he's wearing a brace.

Our Japanese friends did a good job in Iraq also. Their support and commitment has been very appreciated. :0)

Two things about this pic:

One, the sign saying "United States of America" in front of Bush. Yaknow, just in case . . .

Two, Bush appears to be the only leader wearing the flag of his nation as a lapel pin.

Weegee, I like your interpretation of these photos better than the so-called expert. Yours are more logical.

The BBC has way too much time on their hands. Do they ever publish real news?

"The BBC has way too much time on their hands. Do they ever publish real news?"

Well, at least they didn't indulge themselves with a fussy little tangent over who was wearing what, in what color and by what designer, as they've been known to do in the past.
