Dan Quayle Leaves Bush-Bashing Concert
Former Vice President Dan Quayle walked out of a John Mellencamp concert in Nevada this weekend after the performer took a verbal shot at President George W. Bush.
Quayle, who served as vice president from 1989-93 with Bushs father, President George H.W. Bush, left the concert after Mellencamp dedicated his rendition of "Walking Tall to "everyone hurt by the policies of the current Bush administration, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
Quayle immediately left the concert. He later said through a publicist, "Well, I think Mellencamps performance was not very good to begin with, and the comment put it over the top.
The former vice president was in Nevada to participate in a charity golf tournament.

Why the H did he attend a MellonCRAP concert anyway?
I thought JCM regularly bashes Bush at his concerts.
Johnny Cougar Mufflerclamp has always been an obnoxious mouthy lefty, anyway.
i agree... though i do question his taste for actually being there to begin with.... hehe!
Hee hee!
That was pretty friggin' stupid of him to go in the first place.
Both Quayle and Mellencamp are Hoosiers.
You must have seen his movie. Man what a piece of crap.
I thought he dropped the Cougar part of his name. Of course that give us all the more reason to keep using it.
Please don't accuse me of THAT. ;->
No, I just recall several stories told about his self-important opinionated diatribes.
I really don't know if he dropped the "Cougar" part.
Exactly. What's next on Quayle's concert schedule? ....John Tesh? ...The Spice Girls?
I've always thought of Mellencamp as an overrated Springsteen wannabe
"You must have seen his movie."
I guess that means he's been in two. I kind of like the impression he leaves in 'Lone Star State of Mind', myself. I'd tell you what that is, but you should see this one, and even if it doesn't fit your bill, Mellencamp's out of the film in the first half hour.
1... bragging rights to his buddies about how he drove you away.
2... your fifty bucks, to boot.
Not a good move.
Yanni/Josh Groban?
That's not the one.
It was called, Falling From Grace I think. I just looked it up and it sounds about right.
Are you a glass-is-half-empty person?
Dan should get: kudos for the correct response to Bush-bashing. Maybe he didn't pay for the ticket, anyway.
Personally, I think he set a great example and called attention to the inappropriateness of Cougar's remarks. :-)
Hey now, I like Josh Groban. That kid has an amazing voice.
Bully for Dan! More repubs should have been doing this before now.
A lot more of them than just the Dixie Chicks have spouted off lies about our President.
Maybe Pearl Jam. I recently heard that they're still alive.
"...He later said through a publicist..."
Oh, I think we might be able to figure out why the vp made this appearance.............
We might even begin to hear more from mr. quayle.....perhaps on foxnews sometime in the next14 months..........
Or maybe he just got free tickets and was bored.
Thanks for the reference. I do want to assure you that I wasn't doubting you at all. That Mellencamp would be tapped to be in films doesn't surprise me. I just thought I'd put in a plug for the film I saw. If you saw it, I think you'd laught at JCM more easily.
I really liked the part where he got thrown from the truck in the cage. Too bad he survived.
(pssst.. ok, you got me... "you raise me up" is actually on my Ipod...)
he was the only one of that genre i could think of though... LOL!
It's called principle...it's worth more than money and something that JCM apparently lacks as much as singing ability.
I know. I have him on mine too. I am a metal head from the 80's but when I heard him on Ally Mcbeal several years ago, he blew me away.
Well, thanks for your definition.
So someone who attends a concert and walks out has more principles than one who doesn't attend in the first place?
I, too, left a Mellancamp concert after about 15 minutes, and he wasn't bashing anyone. He sucked. Good on ya, Dan!
Yes, I just can't get used to going to a concert and leaving my weed at home!
I was just thinking, Could we also dedicate the song to all those hurt by the policies of Liberalism?
Way ahead of ya:

WARNING: Lyrics extremely NSFW with graphic scenes of death, but overall excellent video.
...free tickets and was bored...
I'm sorry, that's spelled borred.
I suppose so, but that would be a pretty long list, yes?
Isn't it time for the writer of "Little Pink Commie Houses" to trade in his current wife? I believe she is 29 yo.
As one of our favorite blondes always says "Shut up and sing". I could listen to Mellonhead over Bruce anyday - it always sounded like Bruce was attempting to pass a cat... where as classic (anything before and including "The Best that I Could Do" CD) Mellonhead actually had good lyrics and musical talent.
John Cougar Melonhead is nauseating. His politics and his music.
Little (literally) Johnny COUGAR has been trying to drop that name since he had his first (mild) hit song. His agent made him take the name Johnny COUGAR back in the day so he could get noticed.
Never stop calling him little Johnny COUGAR.
SEPERATION OF ART AND STATE!
STFU AND PERFORM!
Mellonball is another Springsteen wannabe, like Bon Jovi. Springsteen bashes Bush, so his butt boys do also.
"John Cougar Menstrualcramps "
LOL and still laughing
or Yanni and Michael Bolton.
my bad
Can't wait to see that!
And a free ticket IS a free ticket.
If you like head banging music, streaming curses, dead terrorists, hippie bashing, and our men and women at their finest, you won't be disappointed. :)
