Be nice now. It lasted 100 times longer than my ex-wives first marriage.

It wasn't a real marriage, in the first place...will they have to go through one of those Divorce things?

Yep. I've got a friend who did. The divorce courts hate this, they don't have a template on who to screw...

May 17, 2004. Less than TWO years. "Even though their number one priority was their daughter," Breslauer said, "marriage makes her also their legal obligation. Their daughter is more protected because they are married." Julie Goodridge declined to comment, saying Breslauer was the family's acting spokeswoman. Hillary Goodridge did not return a telephone message left at a business listing Thursday night. "The plaintiff couple in this case are real people with real lives. They're not immune from life's ups and downs," Breslauer said. "Certainly over the course of time there will be same sex couples that separate just as happens in other marriages."

Now, Breslauer said, for Annie's sake, the Goodridges want privacy.

Oh, really? They didn't give a hoot in hell for Annie's privacy when they were lobbying for homosexual 'marriage', or getting their pictures splashed all over the front page of the Boston Glob as the poster girls for homosexual marriage. It always was, and always will be about THEM, not poor Annie.

"Marriage is about forming a father-mother unit to have and raise kids. Not love or romance. That's icing on the cake..."

You are right. And I've been thinking about this for days, but I'll say it here, it was D.i.v.o.r.c.e. that started all these problems. Blame Henry VIII. Because that was when marriage was turned from a society building/child rearing institution into a "self actualization" pleasure cruise.

I think we see how it's turned out.

Flame away all!

I have always been convinced this whole gay marriage thing was a scam by the divorce lawyer lobby. They were losing a whole segment of the population.

It is largely about sex. But they are looking for love too, but just in the wrong way. There is a serious void in their emotional/developmental lives that they try fill but will never really find in a member of the same sex.
Straight people can have these voids too, of course, but in different ways and with different results.

I hope they don't fight over the strap ons. That could get messy in court.

...it was D.i.v.o.r.c.e. that started all these problems.

Henry may or may not have been the catalyst for divorce in the 16th C. but I think we can find more recent causes which produced the current catastrophe of broken marriages.

In their demand for marital rights, homosexual activists often point to the high rate of failure of traditional marriage.

For those of us who believe that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, maybe we should be more outspoken about the high divorce rate of heterosexuals.

I read somewhere that gays and lesbians on average have more than twice as many sexual partners in their life time as the average hetrosexual person.

it is a out of control lifestyle. it is driven by a perversion and lust. not natural or normal.

I hate all divorce. I think it is tragic.

people get selfish. people start thinking about THEIR MONEY and THEIR future.

Yeah I am young
But I figure life is supposed to be a team sport. human beings were not created to be ok lonely. you have to think as a team. more "us" and less "me".

...people start thinking about THEIR MONEY and THEIR future.

There are a number of factors contributing to the high divorce rate. Sometimes the two people should never have married in the first place. Yet any two people who commit to a life together are STILL two different personalities and won't agree on everything, whether it's "you are spending too much money" or "you're mother gets on my nerves" or "you let junior get away with too much".

The list is endless...it's not easy.

At the risk of being flamed I'll say that when husband and wife both have a "career", that could create the "your money" vs "my money" scenario.

Most of these two-income couples still want children...but they consider their work world more important than being with their children...even some who could afford to do that.

Oops! I got off topic! As to divorce, no one can be expected to stay with an abusive spouse...one who abuses them or their children.

Infidelity is the greatest reason why there should not be gay marriage. As several posters indicate, gay marriage is about sex. Its a shallow committment and if you take away the sex, there is no "marriage."

I am sorry you don't get waht I mean, but perhaps your isea off what a marriage is might be different from mine, I suspect.
