US rushing 'smart bombs' to Israel
Jerusalem Post ^ | 7/22/6 | NATHAN GUTTMAN

The US is rushing a delivery of "smart bombs" to Israel after Israel indicated it needed the bombs for its military campaign against the Hizbullah.

The New York Times reported Saturday that the decision to rush the shipment was reached after little debate within the administration.

The "smart bombs" - bombs which are equipped with precision guidance devises, are part of an arms deal reached months ago between Israel and the US, but the fighting in Lebanon led Israel to ask for an expedited delivery of the bombs, before the agreed scheduled of supply.

According to the report, the US is stressing that the early shipment should not be seen as an emergency supply to help Israel, but rather as a change of schedule in a deal which was previously agreed upon.

An American - Islamic group - Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) called on the Bush administration to stop the deal, saying that the rush delivery at a time of war would be "unconscionable."

The ordered shipment was reported few months ago [in connection with the Iranians] as not very large - 500 bombs, IIRC. So there was lead time, production run wouldn't be too large, and as for designer brains - they have these to spare.

Should this be public? Looks like the New York Times is our enemy once again.

I guess we should be grateful they didn't publish the times and dates of the delivery. Phocking Times are determined to get us all killed.

The smart bombs will spare innocent Lebanese lives. I say ship 'em fast. ;^)

Israel bombed the roads to Syria and the airports in an effort to stop the Iran/Syria supply chain. Israel has every right to rearm, just as I am sure Hezbollah is desperately trying to do. Wars are hell, to the victors go the spoils. Hezbollah was doomed from the start. Too bad. They should have thought this through before kidnapping and attacking Israel.

They don't need smart bombs...Cluster bombs and daisy cutters will do every thing they need to do...And maybe a little napalm for the hard to reach places...

I hope we let them "borrow" as many of these as they need:

Unless, of course CAIR *wants* more innocent Arab civilians killed so they can help their PR campaign against Israel. Nah, that couldn't be.

Nah...that can't be it..yer way off base :)

the rush delivery at a time of war would be "unconscionable."

So if it was not a time of war it would be ok?

Or maybe a regular delivery would be fine?

How about if we use fed ex?

Load the C-5s, one right after the other. How about a few Stealth bombers for good measure. In fact, I would love to write a personal message on one of those bunker busters.

Why, CAIR making it more difficult for Israel to efend itself? Unthinkable!

The New York Times reported Saturday that the decision to rush the shipment was reached after little debate within the administration.

When is the New York Times going to "get it" and shut the hell up...unless disinformation has been fed to them, someone somewhere with the authority to do so needs to help them "get it."

They are acting like snotty high school journalism students encoding articles with secret messages about the principal...the stakes are too high with what the NY Times is printing.

Every once in awhile, I read something like this and cannot think of an adjective adequate to its incredible stupidity.

A ringing endorsement from CAIR! Great stuff! For our good friend Israel, it's time for some good customer discounts and some "two for one" blue light specials. No limit!
