Bamboozled Obama's big black lie By Kevin McCullough Sunday, July 23, 2006
Senator Barack Obama misled African-Americans gathered for this week’s NAACP convention. He told a fib. He purposefully knew the truth yet decided for the gain of the political moment decided to lead astray the minds of those in attendance. What's scary is - he's so masterful at it.
The junior Senator from Illinois has achieved relative "rock star" status since his charismatic presentation at the Democratic convention in 2004. I have been predicting for three years now that Obama will most likely be part of the presidential ticket in 2008. He's got everything that democrats look for in a candidate, looks, charm, and the uncanny ability to distort truth like few have seen since William Jefferson Clinton. In fact Obama may be better at it than Clinton.
But as to his recent deception with the NAACP, he spoke with the typical charismatic demeanor he's become known for when he let loose, "Don't be bamboozled. Don't buy into it... It's great if he (President Bush) commits to signing it (the extension of the Voting Rights Act), but what is critical is the follow-through. You don't just talk the talk, but you also walk the walk."
His lie by implication is that there is at least an outside chance that President Bush would not sign the legislation (passed without amendments) the very minute it hits his desk.
But it is a lie that plays well in America's liberal black communities. It is also one of several. High profile African-Americans have been saying such non-sense since Bush first ran for office in 2000. It was this very same NAACP that ran a campaign ad that implied that Bush played a hand in the dragging death of James Byrd. It was this same NAACP's literature that spread the wildly false rumor in 2000 that Bush wanted to secretly install the death penalty for all young black offenders in the criminal justice system. It was the NAACP's Julian Bond who called the Bush administration the equivalent of the Taliban. And now it was Senator Barack Obama who implied that Bush wanted to take away the right of black people to cast a vote.
Shameful.
In my upcoming book, MUSCLEHEAD REVOLUTION, I spend considerable real estate delving into the history of the conservative and liberal parties and their association with race and equality. I draw upon the evidence of considerable historical documentation that should be the scorn of every race-baiter - especially if they belong to the Democratic Party.
In the chapter entitled, "All Men Are Created Equal - Except to Liberals," I spend several pages pointing out how it was the party of Barack Obama who took the rights of African Americans away from them. It was Barack Obama's party who according to the Congressional Record began the Ku Klux Klan, lynching of blacks, and intimidation to keep them from voting. It was the party of Barack Obama who in fact sought to remove the black man's right to vote following nearly a generation of freedom following the conclusion of the civil war.
By contrast it was the Republican Party that fought for the freedoms of blacks in Congress following the conclusion of the Civil War. State chapters of the Republican Party were started by blacks in most southern states. The first black congressional members, some of whom had been former slaves only months previous, were all Republican. Under Republican initiatives between 1875-1893 blacks had full and equal rights in every way following the civil rights movement of the 1960s.
But it was the Democrats who took these rights away in the early 1900's.
From 1896 to the early 1960's nearly every party platform the Republicans voted in had specific language banning all forms of lynching, and Klan violence. The Democrats have never mentioned the lynching started by their party in any party platform to this very day.
And in 1965 it was the Democrats who fought to get a "sunset provision" added to the Voting Rights Act; meaning that Democrats only wanted blacks to have the right to vote for a certain period of time. If they had truly believed that blacks were equal - fully equal - they should have never included such a provision.
This is part of what makes Barack Obama's willful misleading of the attendees to the NAACP so laughable, so sinister, and so evil. President Bush campaigned on the guarantee of renewing the Voting Rights Act, he argued to make it a permanent extension. And when the Congress passes it, he has promised to sign it into law.
Instead of implying otherwise Barack Obama should be in the Senate helping for the completion of the legislation and pushing for final vote. And instead of lying to proud African- Americans he should apologize for grotesque and unequal history his own party has exercised against people who have much darker skin than his milato hew.
And while he's at it - would Senator Obama be able to cough up an explanation for his willingness to assist in fundraising for former Grand Kleagle of the Ku Klux Klan - Robert Byrd?
It appears to me there is someone bamboozling black people, but his name is not George W. Bush.

Good politics. Say Bush MAY not sign, and then when BUSH signs it as he has full intention of doing so, UNLESS THERE ANY AMENDMENTS ADDED, so you can take the credit for pursuading him.
Is there anyone who has a link to a comprehensinve breakdown of the republicans history of civil rights compared to the dems? My brother doesn't believe me when I tell him that the conservatives actually have a better record regarding civil rights than do the libs.

This is a good site. Another excellent source is historian Paul Johnson's "History of the American People".
What isn't mentioned in the web site is that Wallace was still a democrat when he stood in the doorway of a school and claimed that segregation would be forever and that "Bull" Connor, of the dogs and firehoses, was the precinct captain of his local democratic party.
The left's "history" with the black race goes much farther than just politics. It is social and cultural as well. One of the left's "icons", Margaret Sanger famously spoke out for the forced sterilization of blacks and considered them an inferior race and so stated many times in her magazine, "Birth Control Review".
PP appointed a young black woman as president quite a few years ago- Faye Waddington (Wattington? the right spelling escapes me right now). She was famously asked by a reporter if she was aware of the history of Sanger and the organization to which she admitted she would have to do some research. A couple of months later, she left the organization, without fanfare or a lot of reportage.
I wonder what she thinks now...?

If these are the worst nits that can be picked from Obama, he is a serious and scary contender for the next 12-24 years.
Perhaps enough years will pass before he has the gravitas to top a national ticket, but this is slim pickins against a man who, as someone put it, is better (or worse) than Clinton.
