He's trying to buy time, that's all he's doing.
He will now be squeezed between Iraq and Lebanon and his paymaster, Iran is about to become a very harsh master over him, and he knows it.

"Okie-doakie then, Mr. Salem, let's talk locations of Saddam's WMD in Syria and/or Lebanon, shall we?" It would be nice if he would tell us, but I have a feeling that we already know. And that is exactly why Israel is sending armor into southern Lebanon. They are going after those WMDs, and I hope that they allow some journalists to photograph the evidence after they are uncovered.
