The four official candidates all are originating in Asia, of many countries estimating that after Mr. Annan, a Ghanaian whose mandate expires at the end of the year, the station must go to Asian, under the terms of a long practice - not written alternation between the geographical groups.

It acts of the South Korean Minister for the Foreign Affairs, Ban Ki-moon, of the diplomat srilankais Jayantha Dhanapala, of the Prime Minister associated inhabitant of Thailand, Surakiart Sathirathai, and of the associated secretary-general of UNO in charge of the Communication, the Indian Shashi Tharoor.

According to a diplomatic source, the fifteen Member States of the Council were to choose between three options with respect to each one of these candidates: "to encourage" its candidature, "not to encourage it", or to say themselves "without opinion". The vote was to be secret.

The diplomat could not indicate how much white votes would be organized. "That remains to be seen, we begin just the process today, we will see during month to come how much it will be necessary some", he has says.

It acts of a first stage in a process which should carry out to the selection of a new secretary-general of UNO, if possible at the end of September or at the beginning of October, even later if a consensus proves to be difficult to find, according to this diplomat.

Under the terms of the Charter of UNO, the secretary-general is elected by the General meeting, but on recommendation of the Security Council, of which five of the 15 members permanent and are equipped with the right of veto (China, the United States, France, Great Britain, Russia). In reality, this group of five the "Large ones" has a dominating role.

The diplomat indicated that the four candidates would be informed of the result of the vote, as well as the ambassadors of their respective countries.

He also indicated that the Council wished that "other candidates appear" bus, has it says, "plus you have candidates, better is your choice".

The UN would love to nominate Saddam or Osama for the position... They seem to really love genocidal maniacs and corrupt leaders.

The UN should be turned into a museum that showcases the crimes against humanity of the UN.

Kofi should be held prisoner in the basement wearing Gitmo orange and if he shows good behavior then he could give tours explaining his and the corrupt frenchies crimes.

For some reason I thought that the Secretary General cannot come from a country that is a permanent member of the security council. So bubbah wouldn't be eligible. Not that rules ever applied to the Clintons anyway.
