McClintock Retains Veteran Campaign Team

State Senator Tom McClintock has retained a team of political veterans to direct his campaign for Lt. Governor, including the core of his 2003 recall campaign staff.

"I am delighted to have the aid and expertise of this proven and effective group of professionals," McClintock said. "These are individuals, who have many, many decades of experience in California politics."

The Team

John Feliz is campaign director and chief political strategist for the campaign. Feliz served in a similar capacity for McClintock during the Recall election and most recently was lead consultant in the Eric Roach for Congress campaign (CD 50). Feliz owns his own political consulting firm.

Ron Rogers is campaign manager, responsible for day to day operations. Rogers is a principal in the Sacramento political consulting firm of Russo, Marsh + Rogers. Rogers managed statewide volunteer efforts for the California Republican party for three election cycles, directed the efforts of California Senate Republicans for six years, and served as manager of Matt Fong's campaigns for State Treasurer and U.S. Senate.

Stan Devereux is communications director and spokesman. Devereux has his own public affairs firm, and earlier this year was communications director and campaign manager for Eric Roach’s congressional campaign. Devereux has directed communications for California Senate Republicans, the California Earthquake Authority, and State Treasurer Matt Fong.

Lorelei Kinder is the campaign’s senior political advisor. Kinder was National Political Coordinator for Ronald Reagan’s successful 1980 campaign. She is the only woman to have served as executive director of the California Republican Party, and has held the position twice. Currently she is Chairman of the CRP’s Cal Plan Committee.

Igor Birman is the campaign’s finance director responsible for establishing and implementing fundraising strategy and coordinating a team of nine professional fundraisers. Active in McClintock's campaign for Controller in 2002 and also in the 2003 Recall race, Birman received a Bachelor's degree in Political Science with honors from UC Davis in 2003 and a Doctor of Law degree from Emory University in 2006.

Jon Huey is the campaign coordinator for operations and advance activities. Active in McClintock's campaign for Controller in 2002 and also in the 2003 Recall race. Huey graduated from UC Davis with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science.

Jeff Evans is the campaign’s specialist for direct voter contact. Evans is a strong jack-of-all-trades, specializing in graphics and mail, and his firm has also worked countless campaigns.

Tim Macy is responsible for coordinating the campaign’s direct mail and small donor recruitment and is one of the most successful direct mail specialists in the country.

Bill Criswell, principal in the San Francisco firm Criswell Associates, is the advertising and paid media consultant, responsible for producing broadcast advertising, overseeing media strategy planning and buying.

Bill Bayne, principal of Coyote Films, is the campaign’s specialist for broadcast production. Bayne has produced and directed hundreds of award-winning television spots, TV films, and documentaries. His clients have included many of the leading Fortune 500 companies, political figures and issues of the day.

LOL! They're probably busy figuring out how to make Villaraigosa look like a moderate for 2010.
Either that, or waxing the bus.

Hmmm... did they invite Tom on this bus trip, I wonder?

Three cheers for Ron Rogers! Ron is a great campaigner who should greatly help the McClintock campaign.

Of course, I work in Ron's office, so I sort of had to say that :) But he is a great guy, and I have no doubt he will do well. I was pleased to discover Tom brought him aboard.

So I wonder what happened to chief of staff, John Stoos?

Stoos got dropped like a hot potato. Confirmation that McClintock now realizes that he couldn't have beat Bustamante in 2003 because of his relationship with Stoos.
