President Bush, VP Cheney and Karl Rove do a lot of work we're not aware of silently in the background and maybe Wilson's 2nd trip was a ploy by them to see who the leaker's and traitors were in the CIA. Mr. 'Ego Wilson' probably jumped at the chance of going so he could tell everyone personally involved in their crooked Niger deals to keep their mouths shut about what happened during the 1999 trip instead of leaving a paper trail such as memo's that could be traced.
Plame's Input Is Cited on Niger Mission

The report said Plame told committee staffers that she relayed the CIA's request to her husband, saying, "there's this crazy report" about a purported deal for Niger to sell uranium to Iraq. The committee found WILSON HAD MADE AN EARLIER TRIP TO NIGER IN 1999 FOR THE CIA, ALSO AT THE SUGGESTION OF HIS WIFE".

"there's this crazy report" about a purported deal for Niger to sell uranium to Iraq. Know why part of the CIA deemed it a "crazy report"? It's because Iraq still had large amounts of the stuff from the previous time that Niger sold it to them. ...hardly a discredit to the point.
