"You know Muslims personally in your neighborhood or your work place and they are nice people? The nice Muslims you personally know are presently small minorities in alien lands. They have to be nice, and they may indeed be nice. Yet, when the main force of Islamofascism surges forward, these nice folks will either have to join it or be swept aside like the rest of the resisters."

This is the point that no one in our government has the guts to declare.

We are, in fact, at war with islam. Until we are bold and brave enough to admit it, we are doomed!

The very definition of fascism. If you don't fit in or aren't a member of the government created society, you are dead.

Too much good stuff here, in one article to ignore.
This is an excellent summary of where we stand.

That I have "seen" this for decades is irrelevant. I just hope that more and more "others" continue to realize the obvious:

Islam is at war with us. We can accept it and react, or keep dreaming and deal with the consequences later.

Don't paint things too black. We are at war with Sunni Salafism and the "Hastener" sect of the Shi'ite "Twelvers". It may come to being at war with the Mohammedans generally, but we aren't there yet.

I pointed out on another thread that the 'Religion of Peace' slogan is propaganda. But it's propaganda useful to both sides. The enemy may use it as a cloak for evil intentions. We can use it it encourage the Mohammedan who doesn't really want to fight jihad to follow his desire and *not* fight jihad.

The idea is to not have to fight all of "Isalmdom", vigorously fight the two sects mentioned above, and leave an Islam which looks like PM Maliki of Iraq, the Aga Khan (leader of the Shi'ite 'Seveners' who have been very peaceful since the Mongols thrashed the Assassins), King Abudullah of Joradn and the nice Pakistani cabby down the street.

It might not work.

Clarity demands we see this as a religious war, but for now, we're just fighting two Mohammedan sects. We (in Iraq and Afghanistan) and NATO (in Afghanistan) and the Ethiopians (in Somalia) are taking the fight to the Salafists (with intermittent help from some Arab governments, notably Jordan). The Israelis are taking the fight to the Twelver "Hasteners" (in Lebanon).

Let's not start a global conflagration yet.

Good writing. I agree with your assessment of the mullahs running the IRI and the danger they present to the world.

A couple of remarks -

"Up to this point millennialism was a belief and a hope. No one ever aspired to or had the means of making the anticipated events come about."

Many people have "aspired" to bring about Armageddon or the "second coming". It's the "means" that they've lacked.

I'm glad you make the distinction between islamists and other muslims, but you forget to mention that not only are non-muslims and "people of the Book" attacked by the islamists, but other muslim sects as well. In fact, it is other muslims who have paid the biggest price, not the non-muslims.
It will be interesting to see how many people replying to your post fail to make the distinction.

If Ahmadinejad's drive for nuclear capabilities is based on achieving the means for acceleraing the return of the 12th Iman, coming negotiations for limiting Iran's activities should be trying at the best.

C-Span's Sunday morning 'Washington Journal' show took a call from Iran a few weeks back. The caller kept interspersing his broken-English comments with the same phrase, "Please, come save us!". You could tell he meant it.

JMHO: The problem with a move on Iran is that, much like Iraq, you have a minority that can make things very messy if they want to, ie. the ~25% Sunni/Baathists and the ~75% Shiite/Kurds in Iraq versus the ~25% hardcore Mullah-followers versus the 75% of the Iranian population that would like a more modern system. Part of the hate of the ~25% hardcore Mullah-followers is for the West's collaboration with the Shah who kept these Millennial nutjobs in line during his rule. Like Pinochet, he was a 'strongman' that brought a level of calm to his country and like Pinochet he was betrayed. Too bad Carter allowed this horrific regime, thats killed more people that the Shah ever did, to take form.

I'm sure there are think-tanks and military planners going over every possible scenario both in the near- and long-term [like in Chess, 10 moves deep] of this mess.

Another aspect to this is the teaming, at least in the short run, of Islamofascism and Communism as well as dictatorships. The Islamofascists have no love for those infidels either, but figure they'll finish them off after doing in the West. And the Communists/Dictatorships probably figure likewise they'll deal with the Islamofascists after the West is subdued/Dhimmified.

Don't be silly.
The crusades were a brief blip with one specific goal: the retaking of the Holy Land from the sandmaggots.

Any comparison with the ongoing jihad is ludicrous!

I agree with post 9, the enemy is not all Islam. The enemy is the two or three radical sects of Islam. Knowing that, our battle must focus on that enemy with force and our western message of accommodation - we can live together, but threaten me at your peril.

President Bush needs to call our struggle by the correct name, not some vague war on terror. Our military well knows our enemy, now we must focus our civilian population in order we carry out this long term fight.

That is interesting. I have a friend who is acquainted with RAbbi Moshe Laurie, a former Israelis body guard who had a Paulesque Christian conversion. He has repeatedly stated that the fanatic Muslims will not hesitate to kill the more moderate Muslims if they do not join in the killing of nonbelievers

Superb piece.

We in the west need to pay close attention to this.

I have come to understand this mindset after some time in SWA.

Very binary. Survive or perish.

I choose to survive.

I wonder when the libs and other "Maybe they'll just go away folks" will wake up and get it?
