As the bloodbath in Lebanon spilled past its second week with at least 400 Lebanese dead and many more presumed buried in rubble; some 800,000 refugees, nearly a quarter of the population, on the run; and the fragile nations infrastructure shattered there was no easy way out for either Israel or Hezbollah, the combatants locked in what each saw as a deadly existential struggle.

Read that much and their was no reason to go on. If they cannot reign in their drama queen hysterics to write an rational, factual header, there is no reason to waste time on their "reporting" Bloodbath, get a grip you pathetic losers Leftists
This is like the 21004 election where all the leftists in the media had Kerry winning. They are hoping for the same thing with the Hezzies but are forgetting something.
This is war and they have no clue what is going on outside their little area. They are not seeing strategy, only the result of a raid or a bombing.
The Hezzies are holing up in bunkers. Israel requested bunker busters. As long as there is an air campaign, the hezzies pop up, shoot a rocket or 300 and go back and hide. Meanwhile Israel paints where it is coming from and fires off a barrage.
Once the bunker busters are in place, after dropping 20 or 30 of them, the hezzies are going to run for the hills, well at least whatever is left of them.
The goal here of the left and Iran/Syria is to get a cease fire before the bombs arrive in the Israeli arsenal. because one the bombs are dropped, this will be over in 24-48 hours.
I never read the NYT anymore, even when posted on FR.
Hezbollah, Sheik Nasrallah has said, needs only to survive to win. That seemed increasingly likely by weeks end. Deeply entwined among the Shiite community that makes up perhaps 40 percent of Lebanons population, it would be impossible to eliminate
Good point.
As Rush has said, the liberal media reports not what happened, but what they wish had happened.
The NYTimes is looking for a spot on their own bestseller list with this pretentious rhetoric.
If they use the same tactics we do, they will have the same problems. Israel should pull back and level every village within 20 miles of the border.
Oh boy. More lib wishful thinking from the Old Gray Enemy of the Republic.
More islamofascist and leftist RAT talking points.
Hate to say it but predictably Israel will cease to exist in 25 or 30 years. Right now if not for Bush and Blair Israel would be overrun. Eventually we'll get a leader who will throw Israel to the wolves. The population of Israel is about 5M, while surrounded by enemies and few allies the odds against them are overwhelming. Check out American DemocRAT Jewish politicians who only give lukewarm support to the State of Israel.
Talking heads, regardless of what dino media. Israel is the strongest power in the mideast, and if they choose yet once again to come to some 'agreement' they will cease to exist. 50 years past due, they should have obliterated their enemy. Same goes for the U.S. action in Iraq. Peace is obtained thru superior firepower-and using it.
Please tell me that was not the actual headline.
Israel should pull back and level every village within 20 miles of the border. Now THAT is the
message Secretary Rice should deliver to all the parties in the ME.
The MSM is salivating at the notion that Israel may be having a problem. IMHO: Israel wants them to believe just that.
If Olmert would ignore the UN, Europe, American liberals and the American media and take the gloves off, we'd see how invincible Israel's military is against these turbans. The problem is they're being made to fight while kept on a leash. If Israel were to wage total war on these animals, the Slimes would have to be singing a different tune.
So now it's not enough for the New York Times to give terrorists our security secrets, now they've got to echo their propaganda and be cheerleaders for them as well??
If you want the truth, never ever believe the NYT,caution on Reuters, AP wires, the WaPo and other biased reporting. Go to here for some truth and insight.

These are just some of the New News Media that are more than 'opinions', they clear the junk out and for those who don't know about Michael....treat yourself to this (Michael Yon)
Agree with you 100%. Maybe the Hezzies will come out and
start celebrating just when a 500 lb. bomb is on its way.
This is a perfect opportunity to obliterate the iranian catspaw, hezbollah. If they fail, the prospects for Israel are not good. Handing the Iranians a victory would mean that the next "crisis" would involve bigger hezzie rockets that would go faster and farther, and have WMD in the nose cone. Talk about an existential threat.
The New York Times has become no better than the "newspapers" Goebbles used to oversee.
Does it mention how many Israeli's have died or how many Israeli's are basically refugees in their bunkers?? Of course not, that would be balanced and fair reporting... we gotta make this sound as one-sided as possible.. it is the NY Terrorist Tip Sheet after all.
Thank You.
The Mongols cut the right ear off of each fallen European in order to count the dead; supposedly they filled nine sackfuls.

More wishful thinking from the anti-semites at the New York Times.
A tiny country of 3 million people, surrounded by mortal enemies, is not "invincible"??? Golly, NYT, where'd ya get the clue?
There is an easy way out for Hezbollah.
Throw down arms and surrender.
The Israelis do not have that option.
It is their duty to pick up all the arms that were thrown down, and round up the demoralized Hezbollah jihadists, to be marched off to some detention center until Iran or Syria asks for them back.
The Israelis then may offer to trade them for the two Israeli soldiers that were captured, setting off the chain of events of the past couple weeks.
That could have kept Mike Tyson well fed for months.
Here is a gem, found in the NYTIMes no less:
Hezbollah came to Ain Ebel to shoot its rockets, said Fayad Hanna Amar, a young Christian man, referring to his village. They are shooting from between our houses. Please, he added, write that in your newspaper.
... Many Christians from Ramesh and Ain Ebel considered Hezbollahs fighting methods as much of an outrage as the Israeli strikes. Mr. Amar said Hezbollah fighters in groups of two and three had come into Ain Ebel, less than a mile from Bint Jbail, where most of the fighting has occurred. They were using it as a base to shoot rockets, he said, and the Israelis fired back.
One woman, who would not give her name because she had a government job and feared retribution, said Hezbollah fighters had killed a man who was trying to leave Bint Jbail. This is whats happening, but no one wants to say it for fear of Hezbollah, she said.
While watching Fox this afternoon and listening to these B-Team reporters talking about how Israel is losing the War, I thought to myself, "If the hezzies are truly winning, why in the h*ll are you not reporting from Lebanon (where the winning side lives)?" Notice that they are all in ISRAEL... where they are relatively safe!

"Hate to say it but predictably Israel will cease to exist in 25 or 30 years."
I might agree if not for one little thing...the Bible. The Bible clearly predicted the recreation of Israel and it happened after 2500 years of not being in existance. The Bible is clear that once Israel is recreated it will never ever cease to exist again. Yes, at sometime the entire world will turn against Israel and will try to wipe them off the map but that's when Jesus will return and put a stop to it. He'll then setup His kingdom in Jerusalem. Israel will never cease to exist.
thanks 4 the links ping
"The very clear winner, for the moment at least, was Hezbollah and its leader, Sheik Hassan Nasrallah."
This New York Times writer is so mistaken that reading his words causes one to laugh. How can *anyone* claim that Hezbollah is winning this war, when Israeli forces are steadily decimating Hezbollah's infrastructure in Lebanon? Yes, Hezbollah forces are fighting back-- as expected; vicious terrorists do not just lay down and die. However, the proper criterion for Israel's success in this war is not destroying all resistance right away; it is killing Hezbollah personnel, destroying their infrastructure, and maintaining costant pressure against them. By these criteria, Israel has been doing quite well.

The NYTimes is recycling its reporting from 1993 when warfare in the southern region led 200,000 Arabs to flee, and again in 1996 when more than 500,000 fled. In fact the occupants of the Southern region know the drill very well, and know what to expect when Israel is attacked by Hizbollah forces.
Eventually we'll get a leader who will throw Israel to the wolves.
Why does John Kerry come to mind?
Israel will cease to exist in 25 or 30 years.
If that should happen I think we'll also see oil storage in flames. We'll see the end of revenue for some Arab countries and we'll see millions homeless, millions starving and millions dead. Israel isn't going to go that easily. Count on it.
"Israel will cease to exist in 25 or 30 years"
Not as likely as Mecca and Medina being uninhabitable for 250,000 years or so.
The Israelis aren't going anywhere.
You'r probably right. It must be a difficult place to raise children and maintain a normal life.
