"Don't call me a moderate, I'm a centrist"
Don't you just love semantics!! I don't know the difference between moderate and centrist or Liberal and Progressive.
The funniest thing is that they makeup new terms and definitions every election and expect us stupid little people to not get it.
As Ma ha Rushie say "A tiger is a tiger, a liberal is a liberal." No matter what new words or definitions they decide to this year.

No position is a position, at least on many issues. Abortion for example. I'm sure they take a position on murder, so why not abortion? No position on gay marriage means you want to wait until the judges legalize it. Why wait? They already have in Massachusetts and Vermont -- Hawaii too, and elsewhere, only the people were able to counter the move, unlike in Massachusetts and Vermont.

Isnt interesting that when the CNN writer (Mark Preston) seems to be about to make his point he changes the topic to minimum wage? The issue here is whether or not the common tax payer, being for or against, will have to pay for stem cell experiments, or pay for abortions, or pay for farmers to not grow crops, or pay for derelicts rehabilitation, or pay for illegal immigrants housing, health care, education, food, etc..
So what is the difference between a centrist and a moderate? Nothing
these are politicians who are waiting for the next poll to see what they should say next. They have no convictions, no values, no beliefs, and no morals.
The current congress shames us all. We elected them so shame on all of us. The buzz now is that the democrats will make gains this year. I dont think so, but if they do, thank your local centrist politician (or moderate politician).

Re:
No position is a positionI agree.
Allowing others in society to decide your core values, who you are, and what you stand for is intellectually dishonest and emotionally immature.
When asked what you think, you shouldn't have to respond "I haven't watched Katie Couric, Chris Mathews or, Wolf Blitzer yet."
"I'll tell you after the daily show" doesn't cut it.

Sarah Chamberlain Resnick, executive director of Main Street, contends the Club is being dishonest in saying it only targets people it disagrees with on economic matters. In fact, she claims it specifically goes after lawmakers it doesn't consider conservative enough on social issues.
Club for Growth goes after socially conservative candidates because they know they are not only right on social issues but usually right on the rest of the issues as well.

VT, HI and CT all have gay unions, signed into law by 'moderate Republicans' like these.

The ORGANIZATION may not take a position on abortion or embryonic stem cell research, but I'd bet a dollar to a donut you won't find many people who have conservative leanings on those issues in the group.

"Centrist" or "Moderate", both remind me of the old "street and trail" motorcycles. They beat walking, but can't do anything worth a dang.

reducing the deficit, cutting taxes, focusing on education as well as environmentally friendly measures. Neutral on social issues, obviously.
The latest disagreement was over President Bush's veto of stem cell legislation.
Or not.
What a frickin joke these liberals are.
