U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan then swung into action and called for an immediate cease-fire. Annan is really good at doing that. He is an expert at giving peace a chance while innocent people are being attacked.
No more UN for US-list
If people want on or off this list, please let me know.

U.N. firing blanks in war on terror... The UN and Kofi suffer from erectile dysfunction except when it comes to molesting little girls.

[In Rwanda, in the Balkans, in Somalia, in Iraq and now in Lebanon, perhaps as many as a million people have died on the U.N.s watch.]
Would that people would wake up and understand that the U.N. is a rabid pro socialist/communist/Islamic force composed of murderers and thieves and nations whose leaders hate the western powers because of their Christian heritage and pro Israel (God dwells in Zion and his inheritance is the people of Israel, though they do not recognize Him and Christ Jesus as yet) position. God blesses those who bless Israel and curses those who curse Israel and that is the way it is.
God bless Israel and Christian Americans and save us from the Christ haters worldwide.

The UN realistically can only ever take action through it's member countries.
If there is a lack of action, then the fault is with the member countries.
This author seems to delight in pointing out the problems, but I don't see any actual solutions being suggested.

From
this UN link:
As to your first question, no, this is a peacekeeping mission. Their job, if they saw Hezbollah or some other group doing something inconsistent with how it is supposed to be, would be to knock on the door and say please don't do this. They wouldn't go in with guns blazing.
Nuff said.

No, really. It's like the ineffective "League of Nations" in WWII.
They will site and write angry letters to Ayatollah Assahola, and then one day he will strike and they will be sorry.

U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan is corrupt as well as impotent. Keeping this poor choice of a secretary as head of the U.N. to placate potentates and Dictators is a crime. The call to get the United States out of the U.N. has fallen on deaf ears for decades - O'Reilly is just speaking out on this? Going even further, while millions suffer starvation or are murdered, Kofi buys $2,000.00+ suits, lives in a fabulous mansion, staffed by a dozen servants, is driven around in limos, eats and entertains on a grand scale....the man thinks he is a King. That description fits just about all his cronies from around the world.
Kofi is anti-Israel and pro-terrorists. Remove this fraud NOW!

And now that I think about it again, I hope someone at FNC is exhibiting some curiosity at the over 200 members of UNIFIL who have supposedly been killed over the last 28 years. I'd like to know what the deal is with
that...

This author seems to delight in pointing out the problems, but I don't see any actual solutions being suggested. The solution is obvious, get the US out of the UN and disband the damn thing. As far as the member nations being the ones to take action what do you think this guy was talking about? He was talking about the whole UN, but coffee cup is the so calles "leader" and he stands firmly with the muslims. You can't have a world organization with the majority of the members being communist and left wing and expect to have it be an effective organization.
They will fight and resist any attempt to bring peace to the world if it doesn't involve a socialistic one world government that they can rule and reap the rewards from, rewards being money, need I mention the oil for food program?
Once again the solution is the dismantling of the UN, failing that the US should stop supporting it and stop being a member and kick the corrupt org out of the country.

If there is a lack of action, then the fault is with the member countries.
Which is to be expected, given their makeup.

Some things are not problems to be solved. Rather, they are simply facts which must be coped with over time. - Avriel Sharone
Sometimes - there is no solution. Regarding the UN, that's the point.

When the corrupt goat-herder became Sec General of thew U.N., he was taken aside and told that the U.N. is a paper tiger. It's dependent upon the nations to provide men, money, and equipment, and the nations tend to ignore the UN when in their own best interest...
The UN is a paper tiger? Koffi considered this got ono the phone and ordered thicker paper.

That's hardly a solution to the problems being discussed. If that were to happen, it wouldn't mean that the things that the UN is criticised for not doing would suddenly get done. The UN was very much designed to be ineffective. However, succesive US governments clearly judge that remaining a member is on balance advantageous.

Yes I agree. And that's very much down to the way that the UN was designed. The lessons were learnt from the League of Nations and ineffectiveness was built in, to avoid the situation where powerful countries could be sanctioned and would simply leave the body.

The actual solution would be to run the U.N. out of the world. Do away with it....and let the countries who have problems with others fight it out. There can never be a "lasting peace" until one side or the other is defeated and obliterated.
If there is, by some fluke or ruse, or accident...a "cease fire" in this present conflict between the Israel and the hezzies, it will mean only an opportunity for the hezzies to rest and re-arm.....probably with bigger and meaner weapons.
Let them fight it out now so there can be some peace in the region.
What about genocides within a country, you ask???...well they go on, and the U.N. has never stopped one, has it. The U.S. could possibly take on this task since some European countrys that owe their very existance to the U.S. don't seem to be inclined to help the U.S. do anything these days.
