Iran awarded Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Sunday the country's highest medal of honor for his support for Iran's nuclear program, the official IRNA new agency reported.

"The medal was given to President Chavez for his support for Iran's stance on its nuclear case at international circles, especially Venezuela's vote against an anti-Iranian resolution adopted by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)," the IRNA said.

Venezuela opposed an IAEA decision to report Iran's nuclear case to the UN Security Council in February. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad awarded the medal to Chavez in Tehran University. "He is the one who has stood against imperialism for years and has defended the interests of his and other Latin American countries," Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying by the state television.

Chavez arrived in Tehran on Saturday for his fifth visit to the Islamic republic since he came to power in 1999. During his talk with Ahmadinejad on Saturday, Chavez said he was pleased with the current economic cooperation between Venezuela and Iran.

"We can defeat imperialism only when we are united, and we will be defeated if we are separated. And this is something proved in history," said Chavez. The Venezuelan president also met with Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei later Saturday.

With any luck the medal is made from spent fuel rods...

Not surprising that two whackjobs would get together, even ones with different ideologicies as Baby Huey Chavez and Mahmoud I'm-a-madnutjob. After all, they both hate the West in general and the US in particular.

I REALLY hope some one is watching Chavez.

Those N. Korean rockets, if staged in Venezuela, could hit most of the US. Chavez is getting awful chummy with the other side lately.

That sounds about as appealing as Elton John awarding Barney Frank with the Order of the Silver Schnitzel.

With even better luck, the medal has three concentric circles on it and lies over his heart. AND he wears it all the time.

I wonder if Hugo the retard realizes that his country is also considered "the west". Apparently not.
I guess Chavez is hoping to make a deal with the crazy Jihadist so they won't cut off his head after they saturate his country and start killing the infidels. What a fool.

Chavez is also hoping to cripple the USA by disrupting oil supplies, joining Iran in their terrorist conspiracies. Chavez is making it clear that he is now a member of the axis of evil. What an idiot. Bush should put Chavez on his ignore list and just sit back and watch an see who makes a bigger fool of himself to get attention, Will it B Kim dong il? Or Chavez? Stay tuned...

I'm sure the phone lines at the CIA are busy with outgoing calls to Venezuela.

Following talks, Chávez pledged that his country would ''stay by Iran at any time and under any condition,'' state television reported.
