Jed Babbin: Hillary Clinton attack on Rumsfeld was coordinated with the Associated Press
suntimes.com ^ | 8-4-06 | Doug from Upland

Posted on 08/04/2006 6:47:03 AM PDT by doug from upland

Jed Babbin, Undersecretary of Defense for Pres. George HW Bush, is subbing today for Laura Ingraham on her syndicated show. Babbin is all over the story of what happened in hearings yesterday in which Hillary Clinton confronted Sec. of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.

Babbin is claiming that it is totally manufactured news. The AP set this up with her and the payoff was an inclusive interview. It sold papers and made them money.

Babbin says that "this is manufactured news. She is their great white hope."

HERE IS THE AP BLURB:

War in Iraq
Hillary to Rumsfeld: Quit

August 4, 2006

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton on Thursday called on Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to resign, hours after ripping him at a public hearing over what she called ''failed policy'' in Iraq.

''I just don't understand why we can't get new leadership that would give us a fighting chance to turn the situation around before it's too late,'' the New York Democrat and potential 2008 presidential contender said in an interview. ''I think the president should choose to accept Secretary Rumsfeld's resignation.''

Asked about Clinton's comments, Pentagon spokesman Eric Ruff said, ''We don't discuss politics.''

What is frightening is this unholy convergence of Hillary and the media to take over this country via any sinister mean necessary, be it subterfuge or outright disinformation.

For once I agree with Hitlery. Since we've had her as POTUS for 8 years, we certainly don't need her 4 more.

All three old media networks led off with this story as well. Brian Williams on NBC was breathless as he described it--oh-the-humanity type breathless.

I turned back to Fox News after barfing up supper. The picture of Hillary on the barf bag makes it go much quicker.

Hey Doug--let's sell airlines barf bags with Hillary's picture on 'em! We can do an infomercial, and you can write the jingles......

The AP is exposed as leftist biased.
They can no longer be trusted to tell factual news.

this also sounds alot like the "Cana" Fake News.

Did AP also set that up?

It certainly is a constitutional crisis to determine if Bill and Hill can EACH serve ANOTHER 8 years as "co-presidents".

What's there to stop Bubba or any former pres. from remarrying (for convenience) and evading the 2 term limit?

The Clintons came up with this "co-president" bunk. And Hillary was hands on (remember the closed door health care meetings?).

This type of cooperation is nothing new. Mary Mapes, Dan Rather's 60 Minutes producer, admitted to being in contact with Kerry campaign headquarters while putting together her Bush Air Guard comedy. In contrast, when the Swift Boat Veterans held their first news conference at the National Press Club in D.C., only UPI and C-Span showed up. The American establishment media is a willing, shameless tool of the Democrats.

''I just don't understand why we can't get new leadership that would give us a fighting chance to turn the situation around before it's too late,''

Some other politician (Kennedy?) was railing against the administration because this war was "taking so long". He cited WWII (clocking its beginning at 12-7-1941 and ignoring the major troop deployment of Allies). We ended WWII "early" by dropping 2 nuclear bombs. We have that option this time around, is that what the Democrat solution is again?

AP sells its content. They knew what Hillary was going to do, promised to give it favorable coverage, put in just the right statements to make her look good, and they got their exclusive interview. Babbin is convinced that Hillary handlers discussed the strategy with the AP before the event.

I've posted on this before about the AP - it's painfully obvious with every headline they use regarding Senator Clinton. It's always "blasts this, attacks that, rips him, slams him" Aggressive, masculine terms, military terms.

Objective headlines would be "criticizes this, chastizes, chides, etc. But those would appear nagging to the American public, so they are not used.

The campaign started long before that - it began once she won the New York senate seat.

The Abu Ghraib details were leaked to Democrats in 2003 (including Hillary).

When that didn't generate attention, that same guy (one of the accused soldiers) contacted the media (through Ramsey Clark).

Michael Moore was upset because I've been led to believe that he has similar imagery in his movie F911 amd it killed his "exclusive" and "surprise".

The media hammered that story (over 30 days continuous on the front page of the NY Times) and it resulted in the murder of Nick Berg (but not the kidnapping, which had already transpired).

The media is a tool of the DNC. Party before country.

Hey, I'm glad she did what she did. She showed no ability to think on the fly. If/When she has an debate against anyone of substance, she will look weak. All of her news conferences and interviews are well scripted. If it weren't for Rick Lazio invading her space, she could be cleaning the back seat of Bubba's limo of used condoms.

Rumsfeld's response to Hillary's statement was great. When she finished he said, "My goodness!" He continued saying, "I made some notes as you read your prepared statment."

Rumsfeld was set up but his spontaneous response was better than her prepared statement. Sadly, other than C-SPAN and last night's Fox Report, (they played and extended clip of the exchange), don't expect to see Rumsfeld response anywhere. Hillary is just trying to curry favor with the anti-war left without saying she's against the war.

How does a first term senator acquire this much power? For those who don't know, she has compromised every branch of our government. She has gotten away with the biggest campaign finance fraud in history. No mainstream media source has reported her defendant husband's court date in Paul v Clinton or that she will soon be deposed.

Hillary Clinton is the second most powerful person in the country. If the RATS take control of the Senate and House, she may well become the most powerful.

What's going to happen from this point on is that any Democrat wishing to beat out Hillary in '08 will keep tabs on stuff like this.

And then someone like Evan Bayh, who will probably NOT be coordinating/manipulating stories with the media, will come out and debate her and others, and have dozens of bullet points on unsavory, contradictory behavior she's exhibited from '04 to '08, or '06 to '08 and she'll be finished.

Look at all the damning things about Hillary which we do know. I'm sure her peers are ready to spill a lot more, but are saving it for '08.

Maybe I should be worried about a potential Hillary Clinton White House, but I'm really not. I just don't see it happening. Doesn't seem like a true threat.

A moderate/centrist Democrat running against a rather conservative Republican would get me antsy. Someone like a Bayh, but other than him, I can't think of another electable Democrat for POTUS (at least not at this time).

You don't think the grilling of Rumsfeld by Hillary and her demand that he resign would sell more papers? Are you kidding?

Stories like this will ultimately enable the AP to charge more for their subscriptions.
