I think there's a chance of sanity with the Germans.
A few years back the Los Angeles Times had an article about zoning
problems in Germany over mosque-building.
All the "man-in-the-street" interviews reflected a populace that
says tolerant things about Islam in private...and mutters concern and
even anger in private.

Yes, Steven Brown wrote this article, but it appears that he has merely repeated info that was already publicized in Germany:

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert would welcome the participation of German soldiers in a stabilization force in South Lebanon, he said in an interview with a German newspaper published on Friday.

Since "none of the Muslims" on your train "look like terrorists," how do they look?

Muslims carry bombs around because it's a sign for their affection for people like you.

Just because the Germans think they are neutral bystanders in a war of civilizations and only in the shadows provide minimal help to those fighting it does not change the fact that to an Islamist you are 'still' just a low life infidel not worth living.

I apologize for the use of the word 'Islamist'. I understand that in your world of Newspeak certain words are avoided so that perceptions are not formed that may upset people.

In light of the wide publicity given "Operation Bojinka II," in our newspapers on August 10, 2006, I wonder if you would like to revise and extend your remarks? You could blame:
1. the terrorists who leaked their plans to a presumed mole
2. the police who discussed their findings with the press
3. The press which disseminated what they learned for all to see
4. The whole bloody culture, or
5. All of the above.

You selection in the last incident appeared to be No. 4.
