They can send the goods anywhere they like, or keep and use them themselves. They want the production capacity and they are getting it. The currency it earns is sent to Japan for machinery, which they accumulate.

They will happily redirect their economy to war production any time they think they can take Taiwan without immediate all out war with the US in response.

"The modern systems that we saw in Russia, Belarus and Tehran detect the target at 125 miles.

And what good would this system be against something as crudementiary as a B-52 Carpet bombing?

"We're going to acquire the most modern anti-aircraft defense system," Chavez said

It's awefully tough to take this guy seriously, when he's named after one of the cheapest piece of crap cars ever built - the Hugo.

No one is threatening Venezuela. Nevertheless, its the habit of dictators to build up a huge military, both to ensure their personal survival and intimidate neighbors and enemies alike.

Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." -Manuel II Paleologus

It's more likely he'll take Aruba. That would give him another refinery and the Dutch may not be willing to fight a war over Aruba. Aruba is a territory of The Netherlands and The Netherlands is a member of NATO.

I just keep picturing a fat guy on old fashioned long skis, no poles, no helmet, no clue, hauling ass straight down hill and convinced that he is world class because he has managed not to hit any trees ... so far.
