There are now over 100 cities, counties and states who have recognized the Freedom and Heritage Flag of the former Republic of South Vietnam, as oppposed to the Red Flag that now flies over a still Communist enslaved Vietnam.

In March 2003 Garden Grove, California became the 2nd city to officially recognize the Freedom and Heritage Flag of South Vietnam as representing the 46,000 Vietnamese-Americans living in that city.
The 1st City to do so the month before was Westminster, California right next door.
Both Westminster and Garden Grove make up the largest portion of a Freedom loving Little Saigon, California.

Just a minor aside, but it is the flag of the Republic of Vietnam. South Vietnam, like South Korea, was an unofficial designation.
Anyway, I thought it was cool way back when I brought back a Vietcong flag. Now I wish I had brought a RVN flag instead.

I've always thought they should have erected something at the Viet Nam Memorial in D.C to commemorate all the soldiers of the Republic of Viet Nam who fought the good fight and, in many cases, paid with their lives.

South Vietnamese Flag Can Fly On State Buildings
(AP) WESTMINSTER, Calif. State parks and buildings now have the governor's blessing to fly the former flag of South Vietnam on holidays and special occasions.
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a largely symbolic measure Saturday that gives the flag the state's official recognition. About 10 states and more than a dozen California cities and counties already have done so.
Most Vietnamese immigrants who live in Orange County's Little Saigon and elsewhere fled their country after the communists' victory and don't accept the country's current red flag.
Westminster Assemblyman Van Tran says Vietnamese leaders have pushed for the traditional flag's recognition for years.
Orange County has about 133,000 of Vietnamese descent, according to 2002 Census data.
