Saw it. I'm a Christian who wasn't offended. My wife, who has a rather overly sensitve radar for being offended as a Christian, was also not offended and we both laughed quite often during the film.

Lighten up people. The things the original complainer sees in the film just aren't worth whining about. It was NOT disrespectful imo.

I can't believe someone actually walked out of this movie thinking it was an attack on southern white men and christianity. This Ted Baehr guy sounds like a laugh riot.

Another Hollywood attack on Christianity.

HINT: If you're offended, then don't watch the movie.

I love films. I do not much care for anything much Hollywood has produced lately. What I find interesting about this reviewer is, his recommendation of World Trade Center. First, I would refuse to see this film because it is not entertaining. But I do not watch films solely because of entertainment value. I often watch films to be instructed. But both as a red blooded American and a Christian, there is no way I am looking for instruction on any subject from Oliver Stone a Hollywood leftist if there ever has been one, and there have been a boat load.

Any movie with Will Farrell in it is guaranteed to suck like an Oreck.

This could be one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. I'm as white and Southern masculine male Christian as they come and I was in tears for most of the movie. We Southerners know how to laugh at ourselves. Most of the stereotypes about us are created by us to keep people from moving down here.
To steal a scene from the movie, I like to picture Jesus as a stand up comedian who tells "you might be a redneck" jokes.
If the early Christians were that sensitive, we would never have had a church and you would be praying to Mecca five times a day.

Anything Will Ferrell is associated with I want no part of.

Ferrell's a clown -- and a good one. I don't get the feeling that there's a cunning social satirist behind the clown. Maybe there is a determined activist undeneath the facade, but I don't think most people see one either.

It was probably inevitable that he'd play a character like Ricky Bobby, and from people who've seen the film the result isn't that bad.

BTW, if he'd played another Mustafa or Mugatu, would the same people be complaining?

Ted Baehr complains about movies with 'humanistic' themes. He's Jack Chick with a press pass. If stereotyping Southern White males is the big complaint William Faulkner should bear a large part of the blame since he was a pioneer in the field.

Why do these guys always insist on calling themselves "Dr."? Did they go to Medical School? If not, they shouldn't be engaging in such misrepresentation.
