Glenn Hodas: GOP Friend or Foe?
Various ^ | 8 August 2006 | NautiNurse

Posted on 08/08/2006 10:49:39 AM PDT by NautiNurse

Glenn Hodas left the Katherine Harris campaign July 13, on the eve of Harris' surgery to rule out ovarian cancer.  Since his departure, it appears Mr. Hodas can't find a news reporter he doesn't like.  News sources are packed with stories quoting Hodas and his thesaurus full of Katherine Harris descriptions.

“Unhealthy,” “unmanageable,” “uncontrollable,” “erratic behavior,” “tantrums,” “counterproductive,” “micromanaging,” “damaging” are all Hodas’ characterizations of Harris captured in an interview published by every news source from FOX News to The Guardian  July 14, 2006.  Day after day, we read about Glenn Hodas and his horrific life altering experience working for the Katherine Harris campaign.

Where does Hodas find time to take a breath, visit a therapist, or find a new campaign consulting client?

After his initial media love fest, Hodas wasted little time climbing  back into the news saddle to discuss a subpoena Harris had received.  Hodas' description  of his discovery rivals the skills of Hercule Poirot. Incidentially, Agatha Christie tired of her own creation, describing him as a "bombastic, tiresome, ego-centric little creep."

"But I don't want to comment any further on what appears to be a pending investigation," Hodas told the Tampa Tribune August 2, 2006.
If only we could believe you, Mr. Hodas.  Two days later, Hodas was back in the Tampa Tribune:
“Hodas remembers the document as filled with acronyms, and seemingly hastily drawn – “like someone had just whipped it out without regard to sentences.”

To date, my first and only impression of Hodas has been the daily overdose of his derisive Katherine Harris comments in all the Florida, national, and international media outlets.  So, I asked myself, why would anyone want to hire someone who trashes their former client around the world at every opportunity? What did Glenn Hodas do before he joined the notorious Katherine Harris’ campaign?

Hodas is a principal of  Hodas & Associates, whose home page provides a link to a September 2005 edition of Campaigns & Elections.  Here, we find that Glenn Hodas:

“has assisted clients on both sides of the political aisle and independents with political issue advocacy efforts and legislative needs.”

Glenn Hodas works for Democrats, Republicans, and Independents.  My curiosity piqued,  I wanted to know who these clients were.  Most apparent on the Hodas & Associates web site is the lack of former campaign clients.  No testimonials.  Who are Glenn Hodas' campaign consulting clients that cross the political spectrum?

Dateline December 2005:

“She's somehow got to convince people that, in this climate of corruption, she's a different  kind of Republican," says veteran campaign strategist Glenn Hodas. "I think that's going to be a big problem."
Another blow aimed at Katherine Harris by her former campaign manager?

Guess again.

This time Glenn Hodas, former campaign manager for U.S. Senate candidate Katherine Harris,  was talking about the former Illinois GOP chairwoman, and 2006 IL GOP Gubernatorial candidate Judy Baar Topinka.

In 2002, Glenn Hodas was campaign manager  for Lt. Gov. Corinne Wood, an Illinois GOP Gubernatorial candidate. Picture Hodas on the phone with a reporter:

"You don't want to distract from yourself with sparkling earrings or rings," said Glenn Hodas, a Springfield-based consultant who worked on her campaign. "You want people to feel they have something in common with you."

The sitting Lt. Governor Corinne Wood finished third in the GOP primary.   How sparkling were those earrings?

Following his client Woods' decisive loss, Hodas was picked up by the IL GOP primary winner, Jim Ryan,as deputy campaign manager for the 2002 Governor’s race in the General Election.

GOP candidate Jim Ryan had a formidable political history in Illinois.  He was Attorney General for two terms.  In 1994, Jim Ryan won the IL AG election 55% to 45%.  Jim Ryan won a second term in the 1998 AG election--a blowout--62% to 38%, with the endorsement of every major newspaper in the state. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory,  Jim Ryan’s defeat in 2002 marked the first time in 30 years a Democrat became Governor of Illinois.  Where’s Glenn Hodas?

Election year 2004, Glenn Hodas joined the Illinois U.S. Senate campaign for Jack Ryan (no relation to Jim Ryan or former Governor George Ryan) in the race against Barak Obama.   After winning the 2004 GOP primary in March, Jack Ryan withdrew from the race June 25 amid salacious allegations involving his ex-wife that were originally sealed in custody records .  Alan Keyes entered the 2004 IL U.S. Senate contest August 8.   Hodas pontificates about the split of the GOP, and offers sage advice for candidate Alan Keyes:

A big Keyes loss will “leave the moderates and the conservatives reaching for each other’s throats,”  predicts top GOP operative Glenn Hodas, who has worked for candidates in both camps.  “Both  sides are going to blame each other.”

Hodas said the more material Keyes can get from Jack Ryan's campaign, the better.  But things such as letterhead, posters and signature stamps cannot be borrowed.
Barak Obama won the 2004 IL Senate election with 70% of the vote.  Where’s Glenn Hodas?

It’s 2006, and Glenn Hodas is still running his mouth about Katherine Harris to any reporter who will listen.

Is Glenn Hodas a GOP friend or foe?

You did an excellent job....It is nice to see someone take the time to put the facts out instead of just recycling liberal media stories...There is most always another side of the story...You have to remember that the RNC refused to support her...Some who work on campaigns because of that might not be available to her...So then you get recommendations and try to find what may be called tier two advisers...I doubt very much if she would have hired this person had she known the full history...I also imagine the media who comes here and reads all of this must be busting a gut...Because they are trying their best to defeat her before the race even begins...The race will begin when the primarys are over...I know one thing you can not win anything with negative thinking..There is plenty of that around here...If you simply look at her record and not the looks and other nonsense..It does not take much to figure out that she is a conservative and would make a great Senator...Stinking thinking gets you no where......

This is very illustrative as to why Congresswoman Harris is running such a disaster of a campaign. You would think that she would try to hire competent staff with a good work history. Instead her campaign (and her Congressional office) has been a revolving door.

Is BBYR anti=Kathrine Harris???

The fact that he shows no discretion, that he looks for every opportunity to trash Harris, tells me that this guy is a snivelling backstabber who should be ignored.

That is exactly from the former rat's President jimmuh carter & b.j.clintoon's playbooks!!!

I was not bashing Harris I only stated that Hodas is not the only one out there stating that Harris was unbearable to work with. Many other staffers have gone on record and said the same thing. You know there are always two sides to a story.

If your intention is NOT to bashing Ms. Harris; why then do you continue post all the negatives that the "drive-by" L.S.M. digs up on her. BTW; they daily do the same to President Bush and a plethora of other Republicans, and especially regarding true Conservatives!??!

However, you are right on ONE point: There is always two (2) sides to a story, or should we call it rumors?? Which side of the story do YOU believe in???

Hmmmm!!!

For Senate the winner of the Republican primary. I have said all along I will vote for the winner of the primary. There is no way I will vote for Nelson. In the primary I am going to vote for the candidate I agree with on the issues and who also has the best shot at winning in November and beating Nelson. That candidate is Will McBride.

The Kid doesn't have a Powerball lottery chance of winning the primary.

Why you would vote for a no-name trial lawyer who marched with illegals who would immediately become road-kill for the Nelson/Dem machine is beyond me.

The same can be said of you. Why would you vote for a candidate who has no chance whatsoever of winning the general election. There is nothing out here that says otherwise. Show me one thing that has Harris beating Nelson. There is nothing that shows this.

Republicans showing up to the polls...That is the key to this election period...If your supporting McBride then you sure are not supporting a conservative..

Now, a LOOSER mentality is your signature here on FR!

"There is nothing out here that says otherwise."........How do YOU define this? Have you read the book "Center of the Storm"??

President Reagan's 11th. commandment: "You never, ever talk NEGATIVE about another Conservative (Republican)!!

Again, all of your Ms. Kathrine Harris bashing ONLY benefits the "ass-naut" bill nelson, don't you get it???

Its not bashing when you state the facts. You all are just to blind to face the truth.

Its not bashing when you state the facts.

Most of your "facts" concern the probability that Harris would win, which you assert to be zero. The one actual fact on the table here is that the only guy to ever know the future in advance was crucified 2,000 years ago.

Please avoid describing your predictions concerning future events as "facts." They are not facts, and we will not accept Proof By Louder Assertion.

If you are telling us that Harris is going to have an uphill climb defeating an incumbent Senator, we already know that. So will anyone else the R's put up. It would therefore be a good idea if the R's did not cut each other up during the primary season. If you think somebody besides Harris should be the nominee, you should tell people why that is, preferably in your own thread instead of hijacking somebody else's. "Harris can't win" is not a reason. That's because (a) you don't know that Harris can't win — no one knows that, and (b) your guy probably can't win either, so that's not a differentiator.

NautiNurse:

Thanks for taking the time to do research on Katherine's now 'backstabbing' former campaign manager.....'Brutus' Hodas.

Why any other candidate of any party would ever hire this egocentric blabbermouth is beyond my comprehension!

Why would you vote for a candidate who has no chance whatsoever of winning the general election.

Why would I vote for a candidate that doesn't support the way I want them to represent me?

I don't go to Waffle House, ask for an omelet and get a waffle. If I get a waffle I tell them to get me my omelet. With the FL-GOP, all I ever seem to get are waffles.

I don't pick winners, I pick people who articulate MY politics. Harris stands for what I believe in.

Its not bashing when you state the facts. .....What is YOUR facts, please? ........How do YOU know that she cannot win?? I'm glad that you are a FloridianBushFan, but you certainly don't practice his positive philosophy views with your negative views!!

One month ago NOBODY would have predicted that joe lieberman would be flushed out, even in the primary!??!

Please also spare us from your poll quotes that are totally screwed to satisfy the democRATS and for you also to drink their "Cool-Aid" of propaganda; NO, NOT FACTS!!!
