FBI: Approach Missing Egyptians with Caution (UPDATE: see post # 685)

The FBI has issued an urgent nationwide alert for 11 Egyptian students who entered the United States last week but failed to show up for their courses at Montana State University.

An FBI advisory says there are, at present, no known connections to any terrorist group but that the students are to be "approached with caution" and taken into custody. They "are here illegally and wanted for questioning," the advisory says.

The advisory comes just over a month before the five-year anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks on the United States.

"This is of very serious concern and is being closely tracked," said Rep. Peter King (R-NY), Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.

The FBI says the Egyptians arrived at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York on July 29 and disappeared. The advisory says the alert is nationwide but that there is specific concern the Egyptians may be on the Eastern Seaboard.

According to the advisory the 11 missing Egyptians are:

1. Ibrahim, El Sayed Ahmed Elsayed; DOB OF 4/29/1986.

2. El Dessouki, Eslam Ibrahim Mohamed; DOB OF 02/21/1985.

3. El Bahnasawi, Alaa Abd El Fattah Ali; DOB OF 04/02/1986.

4. Abd Alla, Mohamed Ragab Mohamed; DOB OF 02/15/1984.

5. El Laket, Ahmed Refaat Saad El Moghazi; DOB OF 09/01/1986.

6. El Ela, Ahmed Mohamed Mohamed Abou; DOB OF 02/02/1985.

7. El Moghazy, Mohamed Ibrahim Elsayed; DOB OF 08/08/1986.

8. Abdou, Ebrahim Mabrouk Moustafa; DOB OF 02/25/1984.

9. El Gafary, Moustafa Wagdy Moustafa; DOB OF 07/01/1988.

10.Maray, Mohamed Saleh Ahmed; DOB OF 09/12/1985.

11.El Shenawy, Mohamed Ibrahim Fouaad; DOB OF 08/12/1988.

Nothing on FBI's website as far as pictures go. This is ludicrous, how is releasing names any more helpful than simply saying 10 Egyptian men are wanted?

Foreigner Found With Prepaids, Cash In Murrysville Is Held By Feds

POSTED: 11:05 am EDT August 7, 2006
UPDATED: 2:39 pm EDT August 7, 2006
GREENSBURG, Pa. -- A man from the Republic of Georgia is being held in the Westmoreland County Prison after he and another man from that country were found with 15 prepaid cell phones and $4,200 in cash, police said.

The Tribune-Review reported that Malkhaz Zakutashvili, 53, was held through the federal Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Murrysville police said the federal agency told police not to hold the second man, Zurabi Maisuradze, 25.

Police said the men were questioned just before 8 p.m. Saturday because their van, which did not have a permanent registration plate, was stopped in a lane of traffic in the Franklin Plaza parking lot.

The men said they were immigrants, but each displayed Michigan driver's licenses, police said.

Zakutashvili told police he was in the country illegally, Tappe said. Maisuradze claimed to have a visa, but he said he had forgotten to bring it with him.

The prepaid cell phones, which the men had recently purchased in Monroeville and Murrysville, were found inside the van. Also in the van were a laptop computer and global-positioning software.

A bomb-sniffing dog found nothing suspicious in the van, which had no seats or wall paneling inside, police said.

The men said they were on the way to Philadelphia and had visited a local drug store to buy batteries, police said.

More info by posted by me -

"It was a 2006 van, but it was all gutted out," Tappe said.
The dog found nothing, Tappe said.

Tappe said the federal agent who investigated, Richard Nicoloff, did not ask Murrysville police to confiscate any of the items from the van.

"They didn't want the laptops or the cell phones," Tappe said. "That surprised me ... Just with the activities, and what they were doing, I'm surprised they let Zurabi go without questioning him."

"Especially if they (1) hang around outside a Home Depot and (2) take landscaping jobs."

No they'd be safe there.

I have not seen any photos posted of these men. According to a NYPost story, the Egyptian Consolate in NYC was "unaware" of the situation.

I finished Grad school (MBA) at age 30 after working a few years. Their ages don't seem "old" to me in the slightest.

Whose fault that they were held up in customs? Theirs or red tape?

FBI had best put up pics of the "students."

I agree, onyx. Someone on another thread suggested that the pics couldn't be put up because lawsuits could result. I replied that they could get around that by posting the pictures of these missing students out of concern for their safety. Afterall, 11 students from a foreign country are missing. Shouldn't Greta be all over this? These students' families must be terribly distressed and I'm sure Egypt is incredibly concerned as well for the safety as well. (sarc)

If 11 American students were missing in a foreign country, their pictures would be posted anywhere and everywhere, and the U.S. would be demanding that whatever country they disappeared in assist them in finding them.

Why are we admitting ANYBODY with a visa from a muslime country. We should be rounding them all up and deporting them, not issuing them visas.

"Mohamed" Count: 8 instances (6 individuals) out of 11 names.

Clearly they are all Coptic Christians who just got lost while hitching a ride to the Billy Graham Crusade.

A lot of Georgians are blonde haired and blue eyed. And some are Muslim. We read articles a while back that they would be recruited for terrorism here because they would blend in better.

You would think wherever they are they would be sticking out like sore thumbs!

If millions of illegal Mexicans can hide in this country, how hard can it be for 11 musseys???

Yeah that list of names is really helpful. Every freakin' dude from the middle east has the same name. Abu Mohammed something or other.
Look at the enrollment of colleges across the country and you'll probably find about 15 people with each of those names.
That's like looking for John Smith. Hey if you see John Smith approach him with caution. You'll recognize him, he's the only white guy with the name John Smith.
