I agree, I'm not saying that oil companies are buying all these futures. I'm pointing out that there might be large hedgefund groups or other entities buying large stockpiles, thus skewing the actual supply.

You know, come to think of it, if the price stays this high long enough, then the billions and billions of barrels of oild from oil shale and tar sands reserves will be brought into production, potentially making us COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT of overseas oil suppliers. So even if the price WERE being manipulated (I still rather doubt it) it would have a beneficial effect, or side effect as it may be.
