JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Members of Iran's Revolutionary Guard have been found among Hizbollah guerrillas slain by Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, Israel's Channel 10 television reported on Wednesday citing diplomatic sources.
It said the Iranians were identified by documents found on their bodies, but gave no further details on how many were discovered or when. Neither the Israeli military nor Hizbollah representatives in Beirut had immediate comment on the report.
Iran, like fellow Hizbollah patron Syria, insists its support for the Shi'ite guerrilla group is purely moral.
Israel says many of the rockets being fired against its civilian and military targets are Iranian made, and that Hizbollah fighters taking on its forces trained in Iran. Washington also accuses Tehran of actively funding Hizbollah.
Iran's Revolutionary Guards are traditionally very close to fellow Shi'ite Muslims in Hizbollah and were deployed in south Lebanon in the 1980s.

It's sad that Israel lost 15 soldiers today but this should be a sign to Israel to ignore the UN, take off the gloves and crush 'em.
Here's your foot in the door to Iran Israel. Go for it.
Go get them boys.
How Iranian troops are there? Well, some might be there because Iranian Revolutionary Guards have been training Hezbollah. But are they getting there from Syria through Hezbollah's version of the "Ho Chi Mihn" trail?

thank Stratfor.com for the map.
Maybe it's just me but I would have gone with killed instead of slain. I would have thought that the victim of an axe murderer is slain while somebody who dies in combat is killed. But, again, maybe that's just me.
We've, even...

No - it's not you. It's Al-Reuters. I noticed the same thing.
I wonder how many Iranian's are in Iraq causing trouble?
Well as Gomer Pyle would say...
Surprise, Surprise, Surprise
I'm SHOCKED, SHOCKED I tell you that Iranians are mixed up in this war.
(Shamelessly stolen from wolf24 on another similar thread)
I've heard a lot of military experts and read a lot of columns that would suggest the answer is "quite a few". Taking on Iraq first as a warm-up to Iran seems like a pretty shrewd move to me. I'm wondering if the Imanutjob and his buddies sleep in the same bed every night, or if they move around quite a bit.
lol---no shame whatsoever....
Like plugging the dam with your fingers.
"As long as we are too chicken to destroy Iran's military forces"
Helps keep the price of oil high?
Gotta forgive me...I watched "Syriana" a few weeks ago.
Is Iran flying them in over Turkey or Iraq? Can troop transports from Iran be shot down if they cross Iran?
2nd Iran = Iraq
I mean the 3rd Iran in my first post = Iraq
I do not think so. Turkey is a NATO country and I would assume that the U.S. would know about Iranian flights stopping over in Turkey. The U.S. has several military bases in Turkey. U.S. troops in Iraq would never allow transports from Iran to fly over Iraq.I know that you can fly to Tehran or Damascus from Moscow. Maybe Iran is using Moscow as a stop over to sending troops and equipment to Syria and then to Southern Lebanon.

How do I know that there are flights to Tehran and Damascus from Moscow? I have a sister in law who is Syrian. Right now she hates my guts because of my support of Israel.
Thanks for the link. That article is a real eye-opener.
One or the other, my guess over northern Iraq but Turkey is possible. These are likely "commercial" flights, no one looks at what's being transported.
Maybe in the Shia areas from Iraq.
Good point
Gee, I thought your map showed the shortcut from the Golan to Damascus. Looks like a pretty straight run to me.
This should be the number one headline on all the Nets tonight. It is a red light for even a reticent Bush to realize that he must join with Israel to take out Syria and Iran before his next two years are up. If he does not, his Dem replacement will act like some wussy French UN diplomat and we will be the ones hit with an Iranian terror attack along with a possible Korean attack in tandem. It would not surprise me if this happened. Only W and a Pub Congress can do this. If the Dems win in Nov. and then again in '08, I expect years of horror right here on our homeland.
Technically, the original usage would be as follows:
"kill" -- (probably from the Old English cwellan) generally means death by a cause either intentional/expected or external (i.e. he was killed by the fall, the poison killed him, a heart attack will kill you, etc.)
"slay" -- (from the Old English slean) to kill by violence (i.e. he slew him with his sword, he ordered all of his enemies to be slain, etc.)
So technically, following the original usage, slain is the more accurate word, as the Iranians were killed by violence (and rightly so)...

I stand corrected. This is why I love FR - finding other people who care about words! "David drew his enemy's sword from it's sheath, severed the head of the slain giant, and raised it in victory." How's that?
The new terror plot exposed today by the Brits and the USA once again exhibit the fact that we need to profile all Muslims coming in or out of this nation. We need to bug all mosques and madrassa type schools in the USA ala in Dearborn, Michigan. I am sad to say, unless American Muslims FINALLY condemn all, all, all Muslim-Islamicfascism terror, we should hold them accountable. Even the Prez today, Finally, called these terrorists all round the world who are Muslim, Islamofascists. It is about time.
