JERUSALEM, Aug 11 (Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert ordered the army to expand its ground offensive into Lebanon on Friday, asserting there was a lack of progress in U.N. talks on a truce, political sources said.
"We said two days ago that we would stop the fire, either militarily or diplomatically," an Israeli political source said. "We see that the ceasefire deal in the U.N. is not making the required progress, and therefore we have authorised the military action."

Olmert needs to resign. The time for diplomacy ended in 1948, and only the terminally stupid should be talking about it today. Too many innocent Israelis are going to die/have died because of Olmert's disporportionate need for international approval. All the "international community" is going to approve of with regards to Israel is if all the Jews line up in an orderly fashion for the ovens.

This article really saddens me (in a Tom Daschle sort of way...). It means that Israel is playing with kid-gloves and looking to the teacher for permission. Take off the gloves already and knock out your opponent!

If this is true, the tanks are moving now.
The IDF is like a mad, leashed dog right now. They've wanted to get this thing done for a month...only to be held back by the political leash.
The Hezzies will know hell on earth over the next 3 days.

Olmert needs to resign. Huh? Judging by this news and what I've seen he should be given a raise and bonus.

We'll see soon. Olmert could just be bluffing to see if he can get a better deal out of the UN and make him appear victorious but the Israeli's won't buy it as long as the rockets keep hitting and their soldiers are still being held hostage.
