Bush went to harvard busuiness school yet they still leveled the charge that he was stupid...It doesnt' matter who we throw up, there always an idiot.

(1) Harvard Law school is much, much harder to enter than Harvard Business School, especially circa 1973 which pre-dated the MBA's late popularity (e.g. Bush applied to UT Law School, but was rejected). Harvard Law is absolute immunity against a stupid charge.

(2) Romney being so articulate is testimony enough to his smarts. An idiot accusation would be risible.

They will have to find another line of attack than intelligence, because it won't stick. They will likely use his religion, because they will have little else to use.

Now now, you give democrats too much credit. They will always accuse republicans of being idiots, its right up there with their class warfare, spooking the elderly, and racism charges.

If no one else answered the question . . . here's mine.

http://www.mass.gov/?pageID=mg2terminal&L=4&L0=Home&L1=State+Government&L2=Citizen+Involvement&L3=Elected+Officials&sid=massgov2&b=terminalcontent&f=govcouncil&csid=massgov2

This is the board that are all elected (not appointed) through which judicial nominees must pass.

Romney HAD to go through these 8 elected officials (all Democrats I've heard) to get any nominee through. People criticize him for only appointing 25% Republicans but that's not bad given that only 14% of the state are reg GOPers and that everyone had to get through this Democratic board of 8.

I can even see this panel threatening to block all of his conservative appointees he didn't appoint some gays. Gays can make fine judges . . . but if they're activist judges, then that's the real problem. I'd take a gay constructionist over a straight activist any day as a judge. And Romney's only appointed 2 gays to the court . . . much less than is representative of the population I would guess.

For some deeper analysis see.

You would make a great battered wife, coming up with reasons your criminal husband really cared about you and it's not his fault.
