Lebanon will not force Hizbullah to withdraw
The Jeusalem Post ^ | 8/13/2006 | JPOST.COM STAFF

Lebanon's ambassador to the UN said that his government would not use force to ensure the dismantling of Hizbullah, sources said early Sunday morning. He claimed that Hizbullah would independently be responsible for leaving south Lebanon.

"We could have completed a cease-fire by Sunday morning, but Israel insisted on destroying the essence of Lebanon," the ambassador commented while being interviewed by CNN.

Well, if hezbolla is the essence of lebanon, then the whole lebanon needs to be destroyed together with such essence.

Why stop with Lebanon? Syria seems to be wearing a kick me sign too.

About 40% of the population is Christian. The 15 year long Lebanese civil war showed there is no single "essence of Lebanon".

If he is admitting that the Hezi-Nazis are now considered "the essence of Lebanon" then Israel has every right and obligation to resume the counter-attack and wipe those terrorist vermin off the face of the earth. There will never be "peace" nor any real "peace process" as long as the Hezbo-terrorists are running the show in Lebanon. This "cease-fire" may prove to be just a passing cloud on the breeze since the Hezis cannot possibly intend to observe it for very long....

What? Is this guy chewing peyote buttons or something? Maybe we should talk peace when all the parties are rational.

I'll second that. All in favor say aye. Motion passes. Israel, continue on the road map to make Lebanon a dust bowl.

Considering how much trouble Israel has had with HizBullah, I don't think Lebanon would do much better.

Found it interesting that Syria today was seen removing landmines from its southern area and moving tanks near the Israeli border today.

If Hezbollah continues to get its asskicked, Syria stands to lose its proxy army in southern Lebannon and much of its influence in that region.

Assad and his Dad's generals are getting nervous.

I've been cynical about the "Middle East Peace Process" for so long but now I find myself (among many others) just unable to pretend that this stuff means anything. Trying to buoy up the pretense of possible diplomatic or political solutions is just too much to ask. A brief surcease in hostilities might be achieved but it will only allow enemies of our country to martial their resources for a more covert campaign against our surrogate & ally in the region, Israel.
It's passed time to give up pretending.

A cease fire is a JOKE!!! HEAR that France, Bush & the U.N. Just giving Hez & the Iranians time to regroup! When will the U.S. wake up, rather our leaders in Washington????

I say, Git Her Done, Israel! They've got more balls than our government!

That is violation of 1559 and probably this cease fire, so I guess Israel gets to battle and keep more real estate as a payment for security.

Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon is surrounded with it's supply lines cut. To get out Hezbollah will have to either fight their way out against a modern Army or walk out unarmed.
