Gunmen kidnap two Fox News journalists in Gaza City
Updated 8/14/2006 2:44 PM ET
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) Palestinian gunmen ambushed a car carrying a Fox News crew in Gaza City on Monday and kidnapped two of the journalists inside, according to witnesses and Fox.
"We can confirm that two of our people were taken against their will in Gaza," Fox News said in a statement.
ON DEADLINE: Journalists grabbed in Gaza
A Fox employee in Gaza, who declined to give his name because he was not authorized to release information about the incident, said the two kidnapped people were reporter Steve Centanni, a U.S. citizen, and a cameraman from New Zealand.
The men, along with a bodyguard, were parked near the headquarters of the Palestinian security services when two trucks filled with gunmen pulled up and boxed them in, according to the employee. The gunmen took the two out of their sports utility vehicle, which was marked "TV," and drove away, he said.
Major militant groups in Gaza denied having any connection to the abduction, and there was no immediate word of any demands made.
Security officials put police across Gaza on alert to find the gunmen and free the journalists, said Interior Ministry spokesman Khaled Abu Hilal.
"This is not acceptable at all," he said.
Several foreigners have been kidnapped in Gaza in recent months with their abductors demanding jobs from the Palestinian Authority or the release of people being held in Palestinian jails. All those kidnapped have been released within hours without harm.
I pray for their swift release. However, this is a logical result of all the talk about a victory in the propaganda war which is really a lot of nonsense. I have just been watching Fox, and they are still hyping the idea that up is down and black is white. They should stop pretending that they hold the keys to victory in their imaginary alternate reality.
Amen

This is a prayer thread. Kindly take your criticism to a news thread. Thank you.
that is good, but as unstable as it is in Gaza I'm still fearful for Steve C. I hope whoever did this will turn him loose quickly!
Me too! Steve is a good guy!!!
amen
Prayers for the men and their families.
I used to call my drivers ed instructor 'junior.' I always thought it was funny, can't speak for him though.
Should I believe you or my own eyes, as per #59? I was warning the other poster so they would also not get attacked and then feel the need to defend themselves also.
we just don't think humor belongs in a thread when an American's life is being threatened.
That is your opinion, which you are of course entitled to. I disagree. Viktor Frankl said in his book 'Man's Search for Meaning' (his account of his time in Nazi concentration camps) that most of the people that survived, had a very strong sense of humor, even under the most horrible circumstances. People like you didn't make it, they died.
I'l pray for you.
Agree 100%.
Question: Has anybody heard anything about a Muslim couple boarding a plane with a baby and baby formula that was actually explosive material? My husband heard a bit of it on radio news in the car a few minutes ago and asked me if I'd heard or read anything about the story. I haven't, and can't seem to find anything. Anyone heard this?
Prayers for Steve Centanni and his cameraman. How awful. I lay the responsibility for this event and the recent deaths of Israelis at the feet of Democrats and pacifists everywhere.
Please notify me via FReepmail if you would like to be added to or taken off the Prayer Ping List.
Please post your prayers to the thread -- I'm at a total loss to pick someone who could get it to Steve or FoxNewsChannel.

Amen, Blogger.

I know for a fact that Tony Snow and the folks at the DC Fox Studio follow FRee Republic.
Salvation, I am pinging people who were registered here once upon a time, in the hopes that they might happen upon this thread.
Praying in agreement.
